My Massage at Surfside Spa in Destin, Florida

Updated on September 21, 2012

A Late Valentine's Day Gift

Well, for those of you that read my hubs, and follow what I do, and who I am, then you know that I work for Advanced Online Strategy's in Destin, Florida, and that I have a wonderful girlfriend named Samantha. Well this past Saturday, we decided to hit up Surfside Spa for a late (more like we only have time on the weekends together to go out and do stuff) Valentine's Day date. I made reservations, which are required, about a week ahead, and found that the Saturday I went was almost totally booked up, so if your going to get spa services, try to call as far ahead of time as possible to get the best time slots possible.

Before the Massage

When we arrived at Surfside Resort and Spa, in Miramar Beach, Florida, we both didn't really know what to expect. Neither I nor Samantha have had professional massages prior to this trip, although we have given each other massages on a as needed basis (like most couples I'm sure). What we were greated by as we walked into the door was nothing less than what I would have expected. Scented candles provided the wating room a fresh, inviting, relaxing butterschotch scent, which was almost sweet enough to try to eat. Lively, relaxing music played softly in the background. We were greeted upon entry almost immediately by the owner, Thomas R. Pfaff, LMT. He got us signed in, and upon completeing the required paperwork, and looking it over, talked with the both of us about areas we had concearns about and just generally wanting to learn a little more about us and what we were looking for in our massages, which I found to be very professional, as well as a great way to find out exactly what the customer wants out of the massage. Once this was accomplished, we were taken to the massage room.

The Massage

Now in the room with views overlooking the beach, we were given a few more instructions about the massage, what is going to happen, and so on. After stripping down (you don't have to get fully unclothed, just strip to your comfort level), and laying down on the table, relaxation immediately hit. The combination of low lighting, music, and aromatherapy, on top of the table, laying down on my stomach, made all my worrys and woes disappear. After we were ready, the massage therapists returned, and the massages began. Paying particular attention to my back and shoulders, the hour massage that Samantha and I received flew by. We each received about a half hour on our backs, with the rest spread out upon the rest of our bodies.

Post Massage

Relaxation. No Pain. Comfort. All things that describe how i felt after the massage, but even more needs to be said. Getting the massage was one of the most relaxing things I think I have ever done. It not only felt incredible, but also really helped out with my pain, and even offered tips for ways to help prevent pain by maintaining our posture, and stretches that can help keep us limber and pain free for longer. Relaxed and rejuvenated, Samantha and I are now ready to take on the world. With a professional and very knowledgeable staff, as well as knowing all the techniques and procedures to give professional massages, Surfside Spa offers the Destin area a service that is much needed and very greatly appreciated! Before you choose just any old Spa service when visiting the beach, or when looking for your regular Spa, give the good folks at Surfside Spa a look. With great prices, and even better service, you wont be disappointed!

What Services Do They Offer?

Surfside Spa currently offers Swedish (my massage), Deep Tissue (Samantha's massage), Reiki, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Reflexology, Hot Stone, and other types and styles of massages, as well as a couples massage. Let the licensed staff work all your pain, worry, and trouble away in an hour session, that will leave you feeling like a brand new human being.
