Natural ways to protect your hair from sun damage
The sun can do more than burn your skin it can damage your hair. It breaks down the protective layer on your hair that keeps it from breaking and drying out. If your hair had already been chemically treated then it is even more important to protect your hair because the protective coating is already damaged. Dried out brittle hair is unhealthy, hard to work with and less than flattering person.
The very best way to protect your hair is to keep it out of the sun. A few ways you can do this are listed below.
- Stay in the shade
- Wear a hat, bandana or scarf
- Keep you hair up in a bun or braid
- Stay indoors
These are really simple self explanatory ways to keep you hair healthy. Less exposure to the sun means less damage to your hair.
This can get a little tricky. Oils can not only add vitamins to your hair to keep it healthy but they can actually strengthen your hairs protective coating. The tricky part is that adding anything that adds shine or that makes your hair reflective can make your hair cook. That is the last thing you want to do. The trick is to put the oils in your hair before going out. A great way to do this is to put the oils in your hair the evening before and make sure that you wash it out before you go out the next day. Some of the oils you can use are listed below.
