Outside Working Material

Updated on May 22, 2010

Cotton breaths

One day it was extremely hot outside, and I was a roofer at the time, one of the labourers came up to me and told me "Polyester is your friend." Believe me, he was right. I had always worn a pair of jeans, and a pair of sweat pants to work, so as not to skin my knees on the shingles while working. The problem with that, we all know how hot jeans can be in the summer time, especially with a pair of sweatpants over them. The very next day I put on a pair of polyester jogging pants, and I had never felt better at work. I wasn't sweating as much, I was able to work faster, therefore making me less exhausted by the end of the day. So I stepped it up. I started wearing a polyester t-shirt as well. On that specific site we were not allowed to wear shirts without a three inch sleeve. After that day I was putting on double the material I was putting on before, and being a subcontractor, I was paid for the material I put on. In the long run not only did I feel much better, it helped me make more money. So if you work outside and are sick of being tired and sweaty and exhausted, just remember, "Polyester is your friend."
