Perfume Review of Alien by Thierry Mugler

Updated on March 21, 2017

The Juice

The wonderful world of Thierry Mugler fragrances. I have nicknamed Alien the power house. it's one of those scents that you will either love or hate. I do find it to be very strong and super distinctive. This perfume was introduced thirteen years after angel. The notes in the perfume are Indian jasmine, woody notes, and incense. The longevity of the scent is moderate. It seems to last on most peoples skin and you also don't need too much because the scent has great projection. The projection sometime can be overwhelming if worn in warmer weather. Of course you don't have to take my word for it, you can try it out for the summer and see what you get. Alien does best in cooler climates because it already warms you up with intense spices. However,I feel for most perfumes there is no right or wrong way to wear perfume. On the other hand for extreme cases such as Alien, it would be better to be safe than sorry.

The Bottle

The bottle is a beautiful purple color which symbolizes royalty. The shape of the bottle is debatable due to it's mysterious shape. I seen two different sources one saying that it's trying to look like an actual alien.
Another, saying it's patterned after architecture in India. Either way it is a fascinating and well crafted bottle. It's scent is described as woody, animalic, and balsamic. It's also very recognizable people will automatically know what you are wearing if they have ever smelled this fragrance before. The bottle is quite stunning and also comes in refillable bottles starting at two ounces. Alien is sold at macy's, sephora, or any major department store. There is also a site called that sells it in different sizes at affordable rates. You may want to sample this one before committing to It, it is not a scent for everyone. The bottle is definitely one I will treasure as a keepsake after the juice is gone.

Also if you look inside your box on the inside top flap you will find a code and instructions for registering your perfume. It's called the Mugler Circle. It's like a rewards incentive program exclusively for Mugler purchasers where you can collect stars and receive rewards depending on the money you spend.

Compared to Angel

Angel the first perfume that Thierry Mugler introduced also has that same effect of being very distinctive. Angel after a while was just too strong and manly for me. I would never repurchase that fragrance again but I do know die hard Angle fans. Alien on the other hand tugs a little at my heart strings as it is sweet, sexy, bold and tends to get fresher on my skin. I enjoy it for the most part but not at first spray. Below you will find a video of Alien as well as other perfumes I have in my collection. I update my collection when ever I have about six new to show my youtube audience.I have been collecting for over three years and I'm glad to have Alien in my collection.

A little Background

Thierry Mugler started out making clothes, he launched his first line called "Cafe de Paris".He also known for his modernistic and futuristic clothing and I believe he brings a bit of that into his perfume making. I suppose it's natural for clothing designers to transition into perfume since it is something you wear. I select my perfume everyday just as I select my clothes. Alien will be a part of my collection for years to come and I look forward to more of Thierry's unique fragrances.
