Questioning Today's Beauty Standards

What is beauty really?
I have seen many women and men going under many procedures just to keep up with the social standards. From having very plump lips, big eyes and small noses to big boobs, butts and a very tiny waist. People spend hours just to put on make up for an event that only last for a few hours, wash it off and do it again tomorrow. It has become a part of ones daily routine.I have to admit that I too am guilty of this.
I once seen a video of a dad talking about how her daughter keeps on showing how "on fleek" her eyebrows were. Her dad however was obviously annoyed by this saying that guys don't go falling in love with someone just by looking at eyebrows. No one just goes ohhh those eyebrows damn! I totally agreed with that video but after a week or so I was helping someone draw, after we were done I heard him tell his friends how he found me cute just because of my brows. Beauty right? This totally lead me to question beauty and why do we people have standards about beauty? Can we not just appreciate beauty?
It's a little shocking to have a guy be like "Ohhh her brows are so on fleek. She's so cute. I kept staring at her while drawing." It was something so new to me. I appreciated how he liked my brows but was kinda baffled on how could a guy just look out your brows and say your cute? Because of this I began to question whether people of today has their own beauty standards. Do they have their own opinion of what truly is beautiful to them or was it just that the think beauty is what people generally see on trends. I mean seriously who just goes and just looks at your brows and say your cute? I would have understood it more if it was my eyes he looked at.
hearing that, I am genuinely confused as to why this things happen? I now understand more of why people are desperate and would wanna go on with the trend. From dangerous procedures to painstaking hours of plucking unwanted hair, people would do anything to be beautiful. This trends go from fab to "it was so a year ago". With the help of social media trends tend to go fast and die fast, it presents us with constant change that everybody is trying to be.
What is beauty? If its different for everyone, if it keeps changing in many ways then their is no definite way to know what it really is.
Here's a pole just to gather the general opinion.
Do you follow the beauty trends?
Even with this issues present in our society I still do see a lot of genuine people who see's beauty not only from bottles of makeup but see with their hearts. Their are still some people who see beauty from our actions and not from trends. We should seek respect and not attention. Trends are fun and all but this are full of issues and do we really want the next generation to also have this kind of lifestyle?
