Review of Arbonne skincare: The best of nature and technology

Updated on December 15, 2016

Arbonne is a head-to-toe beauty and wellness collection of products that are sold by consultants. Though based in botanicals, it's not one of those old-fashioned lines that you find in health food stores that seem straight out of the 1970s. Arbonne uses cutting edge scientific technology to develop items that are much more effective than things that seem whipped up from contents from the back of your fridge. I was happy to be hosted to experience it!

No matter what cleansers, creams, lotions, serums, etc. you use on your face, Arbonne has a new tool to make them better! Genius Ultra is a device that's the new editors' favorite, highlighted in scores of fashion and beauty magazines. It's meant to use on your complexion, decollete' and throat, which in itself is unusual -- most electric brushes or scrubbers are too rough for that delicate skin.

This USB chargeable wand gently heats and pulses with ultrasound technology, thus working your products in better and assisting in better absorption. It has three levels of heat, but all feel good and soothing. Genius Ultra comes already charged, so you can use it right out of the box. They do advise not to use it with those drug-based skin products, such as acne medicine. Also, they warn not to use it on abraded or acne skin. This is a great product to take in your TSA approved carry-on, as it's not a liquid!

As for what to apply, think about what makes people look old in photos: lines and sagging. It's a tall order to solve these problems, because they're the result of the breakdown of collagen in aging skin. RE9 Advanced Intensive Renewal Serum incorporates natural ingredients like sugar cane, orange, lemon, apple, cucumber, aloe, ginseng and other botanicals to create the perfect firming under layer beneath your daily moisturizer and night cream. Use of the serum with the Genius Ultra boosts its ability to create a smoother appearance.

This is a creamy serum with a slight citrus fragrance. It leaves a non-greasy, but hydrated surface.

RE9 Advanced Lifting and Contouring Eye Cream is dense but not oily. Though leaving a silky barrier, you'll be able to apply cosmetics immediately. This time of year, a super-hydrating cream makes your eye area feel so much more comfortable in harsh wind, cold temperatures. This product also benefits from use of the Genius Ultra, though you're not supposed to use the wand on the actual eyelid. Smoother skin without the typical waxy fillers of other creams is a great benefit.
