Having a Spa Party - A Great Way to Get Friends Together

Updated on August 16, 2015

My first real Spa Party

I have never been to a spa party until last night, at least not one that stated that it is specifically a spa party. My friend, invited me over to her home, along with several other women. To be honest, this has been a rough week, so I was tempted not to go. Depending on how you look at things though, sometimes when its been a hard week, that is when you need to go to "the spa".

Introduction to a Spa Party, and Margaritas!

There were going to be Margaritas, and you may not believe this, but I have never had a margarita in my whole life! Kid you not, and what is funnier, is that there is no real reason for that. I just never have. I have had tried many kinds of drinks, so its not about avoiding the alcohol. There were to be other fun things as well at this spa party, and needless to say, I had to go. I was just tired, and had a ton of other things to do, but I wanted to support my friend. They were also going to be selling all the items that we were trying out, and it was optional to buy or not. My friend greatly discouraged the need to buy anything, (in advance) as she didn't want to have anyone feel pressured.

I liked the Margarita, after all, though I couldn't taste any alcohol, which is how I like it. Turns out, she didn't put hardly any tequila in it at all. So it was like a slushy, yummy limeade! First, we had snacks and met each other, (I knew no one, other than my friend that invited me). Then, we did a hand scrub with a neat spa treatment for the hands. While we were at the kitchen sink doing this, we had our backs massaged with a little massaging instrument by the hostess that was selling the products. It felt nice to exfoliate and massage your hands in this way. Then we put on a nice hand creme after that, it was very nice.

Putting On Face Masks for a Spa Party

Next, we all went into the living room. We were told and shown how to "paint" our faces with a detoxifying kind of mask. I don't think this was too different from a mud or clay based mask. It was a dark gray in color. I opted to skip this, as I had just put on my make up, after a shower to come to this party. I guess I should have known better, and later ended up washing it all off anyway! I had no idea how hands on for each of us it would be. It was rather involved. It was nice that it was laid back enough to opt out and just observe this part. Looking back, I should have done a face mask because I do enjoy the purifying effects it has on the skin. I also didn't know a lot of these ladies so perhaps that would have been different than if it had been with my sisters and mother and own friends.

A Foot Treatment at a Spa Party

Next, we did a foot treatment. We sprayed our feet with a nice refreshing kind of product, after taking off our shoes or sandals. Then we skipped the foot scrub, as we would have had to get in a shower or tub. We jumped right to the moisturizing process, and put plastic bags on our feet, then some spa socks on after that. Very interesting feeling! We had these on for quite a while. You could do this kind of stuff at home for your feet, really pamper them.

As far as practicality and need, many men and women don't pamper their feet enough. For all of the use and "abuse" our feet get on a daily basis, we ought to put more thought into taking good care of them. We only get one set of feet in our lives, they really need our support for all of the support they give us. I know this more than ever at this point in my life, and having worked for a foot and ankle doctor. I loved the ideas I learned here, and could do some kind of pampering for myself later or family that needs it, etc.

Doing an Eye Treatment at Our Spa Party

Next, we had "cut up pieces" of an eye treatment that you put over your eyes. Its for soothing and helping with puffiness and dark circles, etc. During this part, the woman in charge put on very relaxing music and gave us suggestions on how to relax. We all were told to close our eyes, and just relax. The cooling effect of the things over my eyes was nice. I could barely hear her, but heard her enough to get the basic idea. My favorite part, was imagining I was on a favorite beach, with the best house I could imagine. Then she added on a wrap around porch, which I love! When done with this part, we took the things off our eyes, and slowly opened our eyes. Everyone cleaned off their mask, with a wet and warm washcloth she had. Separate ones for all, thankfully. Then we proceeded to do a facial of sorts.. Cleansing, and scrubbing, then adding on a movement activated heat mask! It did feel hot on your skin when you put it on. It was so nice, then we rinsed off all of that. The only part I didn't do was the masque. She told us all about the company and the products for a little while.

After having done this, one can realize that we need to take some calming times for ourselves and rest our minds some. It is good for us to do, and gives us a break from the rest of some of the thoughts that usually are running through our minds!

Next Up, A Lip Treatment!

I was kind of happy to see they were focusing so much on lips at this point. Personally, my lips have suffered from some sun damage over the years and I wish I had taken better care of them! First, there was an exfoliator masque for the lips, that had a combined lip balm with it. We had the white stuff on our lips for a while, and then we took it off soon enough. Then, we put the nice lip balm on, which felt wonderful. It seems like a great product. I recall seeing some other products like this from other companies.

Now, I use a balm and sun protection factor in my lip products, because I feel like its that important. I try to stay more hydrated as well, which can only help with dry and chapped lips.

Ending the Spa Party - Final Thoughts

At the end, we were given a folder that had beauty sets we could buy, and a catalog with sets and individual things we could purchase. Knowing that this would be the case, I usually think of something I could use at that time, and try to support my friend or whomever is having the party or get together.

One of the benefits of these parties I think is that you are made more aware or conscious of caring for yourself in a life full of busyness and stress. Its not that we wouldn't know how to do any of these things for ourselves in some form or fashion, but you can get new ideas. The reminder to pamper the body that is housing our life is not a selfish or a bad thing! We need these reminders sometimes to care for ourselves, even all the little parts. From head to toe, lets remember to this on occasion for ourselves!

It was a nice party, and the Margaritas were great, along with getting to try some new products. The treats and snacks were fun too. I just wanted to share my experience with you all. It was great to take some time out to unwind and relax a little now and then. Life is precious and seems to be flying by. Do something nice for your body today.

Have you ever been to a spa party?
