2020 Spring Fashion Trends For Real People
Big name, spring fashion shows can be fun to watch. But at the end, many are left thinking, "Yeah, those are great, but I would never wear anything like that in real life!" Today, the majority of us who want to style our wardrobe on current trends, look to social media. Social media influencers, like the ones below, educate us with their well thought out and styled photos on what to look for. 1. Blazers
Blazers are another classic wardrobe piece that is essential this spring. Especially in light colors and pastels, like white or this pale yellow. Don't be afraid to experiment with colors and patterns! You can give it a dressy look, with a lace slip style tank or dress it down with a printed T-shirt and sneakers. Either way, it looks great with some fitted jeans. Or if you really want to amp up the runway factor, try the full pant suit!
2. Neon
Very common on the runway this year is neon! It can be a little daunting, but Tiffany here shows us how to pull it off. This high split maxi dress is perfect with neutral heels and natural lip color. You might also want to keep it simple with accessories. If it's too bold for you, start out small and do the reverse - try a neon pointed heel with a neutral dress!
3. Flare Jeans
Flare jeans, or as we grew up calling them, "bell bottoms", are another comeback! A light wash is good for spring and looks great on all body types. As for the flare size, the wider, the bolder! You can go the 70's route and wear it with a slouchy top, or go more polished with a tucked in button up blouse and boots.
4. Ponchos
Ponchos are perfect for chilly spring days, and a great transitional piece. They are a light and airy addition that gives an effortless boho feel, especially with some fringe. They can be worn on almost any occasion! Make it playful with a light spring slip and strappy heels, or go more casual with distressed jeans and sneakers.
5. Polka dots
Polka dot pieces are another classic that is trendy in any form. From headbands to dresses to shoes. They were a big feature in Couture week in Paris for 2020 trends. They're great for those of us who like to keep it simple and chic. Minimalist jewelry is also good here, to keep it from looking too busy. The polka dots on this dress are smaller with softer edges which gives it a light and delicate look that is perfect for spring!
6. Rompers
Once popular in the 1920's, and now back in the 2020's! The romper is a playful, yet comfortable staple for spring! Especially in bright patterns and stripes like the pinks and blues in this one. Pockets are a plus to make them more functional. Plus, rompers look so good on everyone! If the fit doesn't feel quite right, you can always add a belt to give it some shape. Pair it with sandals or open toe espadrilles for an effortless, trendy look that's also super comfortable!
7. Statement sleeves
There are many styles of statement sleeves to try this season, from ruffles to bell shaped, to the puffs pictured here! A bright color like this lilac and embroidered details make it extra sweet and spring like. With a statement top like this, you can keep it simple with the rest of the ensemble. Try your favorite fitted jeans or some linen shorts when it warms up!
