Stockings and tights are amazing fashion accessories. They are extremely versatile and can be worn to compliment innumerable outfits. The best colour for stockings is black - it's a universal colour and will match the greatest number of outfits in your wardrobe. It is far easier to wear ankle socks with your black stockings for comfort, whereas you may have difficulty finding socks in the right shade of beige. Not only this, but black stockings come in a far greater variety of designs than stockings of any other colour.

 "Fishnet" stockings don't just refer to those strange black stockings with the criss cross patterns. Any set of stockings which have deliberate holes or transparencies in them fall under the banner of fishnets. There are so many designs of fishnets available, depending on the store you go to, ranging from flowers to delicate yet abstract patterns. While if you are a stocking or pantyhose lover and decide you want to buy every design you can see (much like I did), it takes a while to figure out which best fit your leg shape. Some patterns will compliment your body more than others, so it takes a little experimentation to find out what you like best.

Fishnet stockings are generally more expensive than your regular pair of pantyhose and can cost anywhere between $4 and $20 a pair. However, have found that unlike most regular stockings, fishnets are far more durable and last a little while longer, justifying the price hike. The best places to find interesting and yet affordable fishnet stockings include Target, who regularly stock a few designs which change with the seasons. A pair of fishnet stockings from here will cost you around $8-$12. Additionally, you may want to check out your local supermarket. While they are usually conservative in what they stock with regards to stockings and pantyhose, you can sometimes pick up a great bargain if you look often enough - I managed to find some really cool stockings at Coles for $4 and have worn them multiple times.

 Black fishnet stockings are most certianly not for the faint-hearted! Fishnet stockings generally create very extreme looks ranging from sexy to severe. Those of you who may wish to wear them to work or a formal function should only do so if they are in a light and sophisticated design which really suit the rest of your outfit.
