The Difference Between Sexy and Skanky

Updated on August 15, 2012

Many women dress up believing they are appearing sexy, gorgeous, desirable, etc. Instead they seem to have thrown on what was on the floor without realizing the piece of clothing was clean or dirty. The goal of dressing up is to be wanted by the opposite sex. This is how we help our self-esteem and enjoy a night out on the town. By dressing up, looking our best, and enjoying ourselves with a few drinks or dancing our lives away. But how can women have a good time when they look skanky instead of sexy?

What kind of males to catch?

Each style of fashion appeals to a different type of male just like each style describes the woman wearing the clothes. There is the classy apperance, the money spender appearance, etc. Both styles are very different and describe the woman in different shades of light.Sexy is always desirable and appealing while skank normally seems easy to get and just someone to have sex with. The main question is how do you want to appeal to men?

Sexy - There are many versions of the sexy style. For example, a woman can be sexy and classy. To successfully pull this off, she needs to study what is classy in style at that time. Is it pearls or diamonds or another gemstone? What shoes would perfectly combine the necklace from your mother, a modern dress, and the ring from your new fiancé? Another example would be sexy and creative. This would express a woman who is fun and playful yet is knowledgeable and attentive to the world around her. There will be color, fashion, and appeal.

Skanky - Just like with sexy, there are versions of skanky. There is the professional skank, the organized skank, etc. A professional skank doesn't care what she really puts on. For an example, think of Kesha. She wears a cute halter top with plenty of sparkle and shine combined with cowboy boots, long earrings, and almost trash-worthy shorts. Each piece of clothing would look cute if paired with other pieces of clothing. However, with the set they have, it is a muddled mess that says she doesn't care how she looks or who she is with.

What screams skank?

The actual definition of skank is someone believed to be sleasy, trashy, or unpleasant. No one wants to appear unpleasant or sleasy. This is the definition of a person you do not want to be around or thought of. So how can you not become one? Stay away of the signs of a skank.

  • Short shorts - Showing off too much leg is a sign that you will give up anything easily.
  • Wearing a shirt that shows some midriff or skin on the side - This shows that you do not protect or care about your body enough to hide your valuable body. This is a sign to men that you are easy to get into bed with almost anyone.
  • Protruding breasts - Make sure most of your breasts are inside of your shirt. A woman does not have to show much cleavage to be thought of as sexy.

What radiates sexy?

  • Rich glossy hair with a modern cut - Keep your hair healthy and clean. Finding the right combination of shampoo and conditioner is time consuming, yet entirely worth it. Try to find products that match your type of hair; wavy, straight, curly, long, short, etc. Attempt to change your hair as the years go along. Sticking to one hair style is tricky, especially through the different ups and downs of style. Sexy females also have gorgeous appealing hair that is in style.
  • Make up - Again, mix and match as best you can. Every desirable female goes through trial and error in make up because they need to know what looks best on them. They will wear clean, bright, and professional looks that show off their favorite features. Sometimes they even have a signature look. For example, this could be the same lip color that seems trendy yet classic.
  • Style - Jeans, t-shirts, and shorts are plain and completely normal. They show someone relaxed. But sometimes we want to step our appearance up a notch. Try professional jeans without tears, rips, or heavy wear. Sometimes wearing heels with jeans really makes a difference.
  • Cleavage - Not showing too much cleavage is a major factor. A woman that can find a shirt that hugs her breasts perfectly yet doesn't show them to the world is a master of sexy.

A woman who is bold and knows how to have fun can walk into a restaurant, sit at the bar, and walk out with any man. This dress is a sign of a woman who knows what she is doing. Because of the dresses color, accessories might be tricky to find. However, if done smoothly, she will look entirely in control.
