How to maintain beautiful skin before and after the age of forty.

One day I woke up and I was friggin forty!

Once upon a time I went to sleep a beautiful, young, (and may I add, sexy-girl) and woke up... forty! Don't laugh, if it hasn't happened to you yet it will.

Unfortunately, we all grow old. We can keep ourselves healthy by eating right and exercising on a regular basis, but time is not on our side eventually, the hourglass will turn up empty.

Many people become depressed when they turn forty. The bathroom counter becomes littered with anti-aging cream. The cosmetic surgery begins at forty. The balding male buys a toupee, turns in his station wagon for a red corvette, and ditches his faithful wife. Then he marries his gold-digging secretary and all this happens around the age of forty. Don't laugh I didn't make this up statistics shows all this is true.

I'm sure some of you are thinking:

"There's nothing wrong with looking good for as long as you can or...

" I'm going to flaunt it for as long as I can".

Nothing wrong with that, but how many of you forty and over hated hearing this:

  1. " He/She looks good " for their age."
  2. Wanted to slap the convenient clerk when he didn't card you for alcohol because it was so obvious you were over the age of thirty-five.
  3. Notice that sometimes the very young cashier at Mc Donald's sometimes charge you for the senior citizen coffee; and you would correct them, if it wasn't for the discount.

I'll be the first to admit that the second one rang true for me.

Beauty starts from the inside-out.

I'm sure you've heard this old saying: " Beauty starts from within." It is true. As with anything that has been broken or damaged, healing starts from the root and works itself out, that means mental as well as physical. Maintaining overall health keeps you looking younger and, feeling energetic. This requires maintaining a healthy weight, eating right, exercising, and keeping your life as stress free as possible. Stress and anxiety will add years to your appearance, causing you to grey prematurely and wrinkle early. keeping a positive attitude will make you feel better on the inside and this makes you more beautiful on the outside.

The effects of aging and depression.

I noticed many of my friends became depressed around the forty mark. They began to complain about lines and sags in places that were not there before, and men who no longer found women considered "middle age" attractive, and began chasing after younger women. It did me no good to remind them we were once younger women being chased by older men. because I also noticed some of my friends got amnesia around the age of forty.

Homemade coconut hair conditioner. How to have healthier, shiner looking hair, in 30 minutes.

Coconut oil will make your hair shinier and healthy looking. Rich in carbohydrates, coconut oil rejuvenates dry and damaged-hair. Coconut oil is good for repairing split ends or, hair loss due to dyeing or stress. Coconut oil can be found in health food stores, the grocery isle where you buy regular cooking oil, or at your local beauty supply. Coconut cooking oil can be applied directly to hair and covered with a plastic cap. Coconut oil also can be mixed with mayonnaise, egg whites and avocado, whipped into a creamy batter and applied directly to hair for a deep penetrating conditioning. Cover hair with a plastic cap for 30 minutes and then wash out.

How to grow stronger, longer hair, using rosemary tea.

Rosemary tea is one of the most effective herbs I found for strengthening hair that has been weakened by perms, hair dyes, stress, or malnutrition. Rich in nutrients, Rosemary tea stimulates hair follicles to promote stronger and healthier hair. Rosemary tea can be drunk as a beverage or used as a hair rinse and, with continual use, you will see signs of restoration in a few short months.

Rosemary tea can be found at your local health food store. It comes in the form of dry tea leaves that should be boiled for 10 minutes. After straining the tea allow to cool then apply to hair making sure ends are properly saturated. Cover with a plastic cap for 30 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Avocado oil, flaxseed and grape seed oil for tighter and smoother skin.

Over time the skin begins to lose collagen and starts to sag. Noticeable signs of aging shows around the jaw line, eyes and neck. Skin produces less of its own natural oils and becomes drier with time.

Avocado oil: Is rich in vitamin E promoting healthy skin. The rich nutrients found in avocado replenishes natural oils that have been damaged by the sun or became drier due to aging. Avocado can be applied directly to skin and used as a facial mask for smooth and younger looking skin.

Grape seed oil: Is rich in vitamins and protein that are found in many facial products that we use today. It is highly known for it's anti-aging effects and good for oily skin and acne.

Flax seed oil: Is loaded with omega 3- fatty acids that is good for your over-all health. It includes fiber, zinc and a rich source of vitamin B that is good for your hair, skin and nails. Some statistics have shown that flaxseed is good for your memory and concentration. Flaxseeds come in pills, capsules or liquid form.

After a continued use these signs become noticeable:

The skin becomes clear and possess a glow.

Nails and hair appear healthier and stronger.

Organic vegetable smoothie for detoxing and healthy skin.

Maintaining a healthy diet loaded with leafy green vegetables, fruits and nuts will keep you feeling energetic and looking good. Sometimes we can over-cook our vegetables killing most of their nutrients and vitamins, defeating our purpose of why we eat them in the first place. Steaming them instead of boiling them is better. However, eating them raw is the most effective way to ensure your body is getting all the vitamins and fiber it needs. Now some people don't enjoy eating vegetables at all so eating them raw may not be an option. However, blending your leafy green vegetables along with your favorite fruit will not only give you a sweet tasting smoothie but will cleanse and detox your body as well.

Use organic vegetables: However if organic's are out of your budget make sure vegetables are washed thoroughly ridding them of waxy build up and pesticide sprays You can also use frozen fruits which will last longer.

Ingredients you will need:

  • Organic baby spinach
  • Organic kale
  • Organic greens
  • Ground flaxseed nuts
  • Your favorite sweet fruit
  • Bananas- strawberries- apples ect :
  • Ice or plain cold water
  • Stevia - all natural sweetener

Load contents into a blender if using ice load with 2 cups of ice first.

1 or 1 1/2 cup of fruit depending on how large your blender is

1 handful each of your leafy green vegetables ( use only leafy dark green vegetables)

Two cups of water if using water

2 tbls of ground flaxseed nuts

Add Stevia: To taste buds

Blend into contents are smooth rich and creamy.

If you possess a Ninja blender it's best to use ice. Your smoothies will come out creamy, smooth and deliciously icy.

You can also do this for a 10-day, cleanse body detox. You will not only feel better but guaranteed your skin will look clearer and smoother.

After you make your healthy smoothies store rest of contents in the fridge.

Billions of dollars are being spent promoting anti-aging products.

By the year 2016 statistics show consumers will have spent billions of dollars fighting the war over aging. The cosmetic industry has, and will, make a fortune off our fears of growing old. Unfortunately, most of the products don't live up to their name and will leave you feeling frustrated and broke.

There are lot's of skin care products in the market promising to keep you looking young and flawless but it can put a strain on your pockets if you try them all. Since becoming serious about healthy skin I've gone on a search for good skin care at reasonable prices I'd like to share some of my findings.

What does the bible say about the fear of dying and growing old.

People fear growing old because of what it represents, which is death. Death doesn't feel natural to us we were created to live forever. According to the bible God placed eternity in our hearts, and because we are spiritual beings, who live in a body,we feel immune to the fact that it will happened... until it does.

The bible says In (Genesis 1:27 ) God created us in His image, man and female, He created them. We know that God's image is spiritual and eternal and like himself He created us to live forever. But because of disobedience sin entered the world through man, and the bible states that the price for sin is death.

We feel betrayed when are bodies start to change. We still feel youthful and vibrant in our minds but unfortunately, our bodies as with everything on earth that exists on the breath of God dies.

If you believe in the Holy Bible, then you know that Jesus came to make atonement for us and through Him we have the chance to live again. People who believe in the Bible do not have a fear of death in a literal sense but it doesn't make growing old easier.

Remember these tips !

  • Always drink a lot of water with foods that are high in fiber
  • Always eat plenty of green leafy vegetables that are high in iron
  • Always eat plenty of fruit
  • Take multi-vitamins daily
  • Exercise regularly

The key to staying youthful for as long as you can is to start taking care of yourself early. Remember you only have one body so treat it right and you will look and feel right for years to come.

All natural- homemade- exfoliating body scrubs: How to save money by using things lying around in your cabinets or fridge.

In todays struggling economy it has become necessary to cut corners just to make ends meet. But no one should have to make sacrifices when it comes to looking and feeling their best. You can achieve over the counter results by using things that you have in your cabinets at home. Today people are becoming innovative in "faking it until you make it" and you can too.

To keep skin looking clear and smooth exfoliating once a week is essential. Exfoliating removes the top dead layers from your skin and will leave your sking feeling smooth and silky. Trying different products can put a strain on your budget, however, making your own products from foods lying around in your cabinets are all natural and can save you lots of money.

  • Ingredients you can use to make your homemade body scrubs:

  • Brown sugar, regular sugar, sea salt, regular salt, Epsom salt or cinnamon.
  • Oatmeal, yogurt, avocado, apricot ect:
  • Aloe Vera oil, flaxseed oil, coconut oil ect:

Combine 1/4 of your favorite abrasive

combine 3/4 your favorite all natural food

combine 1tbls of your favorite all natural oil or until batter is smooth

Whip contents into a smooth creamy batter and apply.

Herbs, Over the counter products, vitamins.

What method of skin care do you prefer to use.

Thanks Peg, I just do not believe in lining the pockets of 'the greedy' by playing on the insecurities of the aging. Natural products are always best without the harsh chemicals that are actually more harmful than good. Thanks for commenting.

So much emphasis is placed on youthful beauty that even the advertisements for wrinkles use young people, as if they have wrinkles. I like your tips on making an avocado facial mask. Haven't tried that but it sounds interesting.

Chitrangada; Staying positive and keeping negative people, and negative thoughts, away, helps keep stress from you life. Stress is a silent killer; also, it will age you slowly. I try to avoid them as much as I can.

Too late for me, I'm as wrinkled as a prune, but thanks for trying. I think you are right that real beauty comes from within. I know people who are not what you would call physically attractive, but they draw people toward them because of their beaming personalities. Great hub!
