Fragrances for Women

With a woman's choice in perfume, an alluring mystique lingers in a room infusing our imagination with her hidden identity. These are my top ten must-have fragrances for women. People who use better fragrances are more successful at socializing than people who don't. This is reason enough to think about trying or buying some of the top ten must-have fragrances for women. Don't wear the same fragrance forever! Buy different fragrances and change it up. Try to go with something different to match the occasion or your mood. Be irresistible with a new fragrance. Here are my top ten suggestions below.

Eau de Toilette vs Eau de Parfum

  • Eau de Toilette - A little bit less concentrated than Eau de Parfum. Lasts between four to six hours.
  • Eau de Parfum - Longer lasting with more oil that clings to your skin. Lasts at least eight hours.

About Perfume Notes

Never purchase a perfume based on the first spritz on your skin because the fragrance will change over time according to its specific notes. Notes are the recipe or composition of what the fragrance is made from. For example, the top notes are what smell when you first spray a perfume and they will typically last about ten to fifteen minutes. The middle notes come in after the top notes have worn off and will last another thirty minutes to an hour depending on the perfume. The base notes come in last and these are the scents that will stay with you throughout the day. Wear the perfume for at least an hour until the base notes come in to judge whether or not you will like the scent.

Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani for Women

Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani for Women

Acqua di Gio means "water of joy" in Italian. The fresh, aquatic fragrance debuted in 2010 and captures a simple feeling of joy and happiness. Top notes include cool mint, warm brown sugar, and zest of Italian lemon. The middle notes include jasmine, dew of peony, and pink pepper. The base notes are cedar wood and labdanum. Customer say this scent is really refreshing with a distinct mint, cedar, and brown sugar vibe. This would be a perfect summertime fragrance which comes highly recommended.

Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy Perfume

Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy

This fragrance smells crisp, fun, mystical, and vibrant. This scent would be perfect for someone who enjoys sweet floral scents. Top notes of Mandarin & Wild Berries; mid notes of Honeysuckle, Jasmine & Gardenia; finish of Amber, Carmel Woods, Vanilla, Sandalwood & Praline. This perfume is very long lasting and distinguishable when you wear it. Great scent to wear for the wintertime. People love this sweet fragrance and will gravitate towards you when you wear it.

Candy by Prada

Prada Candy

Introduced in 2011, Candy by Prada is a sensual caramel perfume. Fragrance Notes: Benzoin, Caramel, And Musk. Benzoin is a tree sap that smells of vanilla and leathery. Any perfume that calls itself Amber will have Benzoin in it. This fragrance is perfect for a romantic date night with your significant other because it has a very snuggly, soft, cozy quality. The scent can be described as a caramel cotton candy. The longer that you wear this fragrance, the caramel tends to wear off and the amber quality comes through.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue has been on the market since 2001 and is considered a classic. This is a perfect casual, fresh, light summer scent which is only available in an Eau De Toilette. The fresh scent can be attributed to the bamboo middle note. Top notes include granny smith apple, sicilian cedar, and bluebells. Middle notes include jasmine, white rose, and bamboo. Base notes include cedar wood, amber, and musk. Some people can detect a cool and refreshing scent of lemon in this fragrance but there is not a lemon note in it. Even though this fragrance has two floral notes, this is not a floral fragrance at all. I personally love and recommend this one. I have it in my collection. To me, it smells like a fresh shower after a dip in the ocean.

Poppy Flower by Coach

Coach Poppy Flower

Coach Poppy is a soft, fruity, sweet floral concoction which is perfect for the spring and summer. You can also wear this scent at work. This is a daytime fragrance. The fragrance came out in 2010. With notes of Jasmine, Gardenia, Cucumber and Vanilla, Coach Poppy for Women is happiness and fun in a bottle. Clean and citrusy top notes include cucumber, freesia, and mandarin orange. Middle floral notes include rose, water lily, gardenia, and jasmine. Cucumber lingers on through the middle notes. Base notes include marshmallow, vanilla, virginia cedar, and sandalwood. Marshmallow and vanilla are the most recognizable notes throughout the base. One spritz and your day is filled with sunshine. Poppy is expensive but there is a reason. This fragrance will stay with you all day.

Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf

VIKTOR & ROLF Flowerbomb

Flowerbomb is the perfect sweet fragrance for a romantic evening or in a social setting. This fragrance debuted in 2004 and is a floral explosion, a profusion of flowers that has the power to make everything seem more positive. Magically evocative notes will immediately awaken your deepest senses, giving you the impression of living life in your own secret garden away from reality. Flowerbomb contains hints of freesia, Centifolia rose, osmanthus and Sambac jasmine, supported by a background of patchouli. This is a very girly fragrance; ribbons, ruffles, and bows.

Paco Rabanne's Lady Million

Lady Million by Paco Rabanne

Lady Million by Paco Rabanne is a full bodied casual fragrance which hit the shelves in 2010. It is a perfect complement to 1 Million for Men. So, if your man is wearing this fragrance you can wear this one together and the scents mesh well. You may not have a million dollars, but you can still smell like it! This fragrance dazzles and seduces with a floral scent. Top notes of lemon, raspberry, neroli. Middle notes include: orange blossom followed by a heart of bewitching Arabian jasmine and gardenia. The base notes of patchouli, honey and amber complete this tantalizing composition. The major notes include: raspberry, orange flower, honey, and neroli.

Justin Bieber's Girlfriend

Justin Bieber's Girlfriend

Just Bieber's Girlfriend perfume is a flirty, personal, inviting fragrance. The scent draws you in with an exciting splash of crisp mandarin and juicy blackberry. The fragrance then heats up with floral notes of pink freesia and star jasmine. Next, the fragrance strikes a flame with warm vanilla orchid and luminous musk. The bottle is a fresh new design with eye-catching purple and pink rings, wrapped in gold lacing, topped with a revolutionary new magnetic cap. Top notes include: mandarin, blackberry, pear, strawberry. Middle notes include: pink freesia, star jasmine, apricot, and orange blossom. Base notes include: white amber, musk, and vanilla orchid.

Angel by Thierry Mugler

Angel by Thierry Mugler

Angel by Thierry Mugler is a daytime fragrance which was introduced in 1992. The scent is an Eau de Parfum and is very long lasting. It's described as incredibly rich, inviting, warm, and sexy. The fragrance takes a few days to settle in so don't judge it by the first spray. The fragrance is described as drama in a bottle due to it's complex mix of notes. These perfumes are refillable. Instead of paying for another bottle, when it's empty, you can pay for the perfume instead. Fragrance notes include: bergamot, hedione, helional, honey, dewberry, red berries, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, coumarin, sandalwood, and patchouli, with lower notes of fresh citrus, melons, peaches, and plums. Perfect for winter colder months. This fragrance has a strong spice element.

Balenciaga Florabotanica for Women

Balenciaga Florabotanica for Women

Balenciaga Florabotanica is a fresh, clean, crisp, floral daytime fragrance which came out in 2012. This fragrance was a Fifi Women Luxury winner in 2013. When you don't want to smell like perfume, but still want to smell good, this is the daily fragrance for you. The fragrance is long lasting. The fragrance is marketed to a younger audience, attracting attention with its modern, attractive flacon and unusual ingredients. Notes include: mint, carnation, hybrid rose, caladium leaves, amber and vetiver. This is not one of those girly perfumes. The notes are meant to give it a floral character, while also being seductive with a dangerous floral effect.

SassySarah, thank you for the perfume recommendations. ;-) I know...I really want to get the Justin Bieber's girlfriend. It's so inexpensive; so how could you not have that one in your collection? LoL - But, my husband is like, "I'm not supporting that guy". He doesn't give me reasons why. So... I maybe not getting it anytime soon.

I have to say you really chose some great scents! I have used Light Blue, Candy, Viva La Juicy and Coach Poppy. Love them all. Justin Bieber's perfume was very popular when I worked at Sephora during Christmas and I was actually shocked that it wasn't too sweet and smelled great (but don't tell anyone I said that ha). I also really like Chance by Chanel, and some perfumes from the Bond no 9 collection, particularly Chinatown. Great post :)

Definitely! :) Thank you for stopping by Pika & for suggesting Miss Dior. I will check that one out. I did see some of the same comments you mentioned about Angel.

Light blue and Florabotanica are definitely must-haves, I believe Miss Dior is missing from the list, it's definitely unique and has a huge personality.

I still don't get the craziness about Angel though, way too tough, and always worn by people who seem to spray half a bottle.... :(

I used to wear perfume every day when I worked outside the home. I'd wear a different scent every day, depending on what I was wearing. Friday was always Patchouli oil (a carry-over from high school days). Some of my favorite perfumes are Fire & Ice, Ici, White Diamonds, and Gucci.
