My First Purchase

This was one of the very first company's that I tried when I started my makeup. It is affordable and you can find almost all of the makeup from face to lip products. Usually, there is a display box with 4-5 sections placed on the corner of one of the beauty aisles. Although the display is small, you can always spot the company because of its cute logo. If you are a starter in makeup then try some of Essence products. They are awesome.

About the Company

Finding of the company's background and where it started from, is an excellent way of gaining knowledge of products that you use. I love research and reading, so I thought of introducing you to the company's story as well. It is a dedicated team's effort when putting all products together. They work really hard to bring some amazing quality products out to their customers with competitive prices.

The company began in 2001 by Christina. She visioned a product line that is fun and provides quality and affordability. In 2002, the makeup was first launched in Germany. It gained a lot of praises in Germany making it the #1 makeup brand. Then, in 2007, Essence started to sell in New York, USA. Ulta beauty took the initiative to show interest in the brand and before you know it, Essence was sold at ULTA. Within a year of sales at ULTA, Essence saw the biggest achievement of $1 million sales and there was no stopping. The sales grew in larger numbers from here on. In 2011, Essence received a Best in Beauty Award among many other competitive beauty brands. Canada launched Essence in 2012. It was then sold at Shoppersdrugmart and Pharmaprix.

Till date, Essence continues to invest in quality and affordable prices making them a niche beauty brand around the world. Together with its stylists it brings the essence of not only quality and affordable products but also creativity and fun.

Essence How to Make Nude Eyes Make-up Box

As the name suggests, it is a small kit to help you achieve an everyday eye look. Almost like your not wearing makeup but you really are! I get super excited when I see palettes like these, that's why they are always part of my collection. I love anything that has natural shades, whether they are matte or shimmer.

This kit includes 6 shades. The shades are called, all about nude, nude night out, team nude, eye light beige, go for gold and an eye for apricot. These are a mixture of, brown, gold and apricot colors. They are all shimmer, though! Yes, there is no matte shades in this kit! If you like a little sparkle and can handle the blending then you will like this kit. It also includes a small dual brush; with a sponge tip and flat shader brush. A pretty designed mirror is also a part of this compact kit. Lastly, you will receive two cards that show you step by step guide on how to achieve eyes night look and everyday beauty look. These are both in English and French version.

I wouldn't use the brush that comes with the palette (laughs). It doesn't take the product very well. However, if you are a serious beauty geek then you will probably have eyeshadow brushes that you can use. You will need a shader brush, a crease brush and a blending brush. If you have good quality brushes then these take the product very well. You will notice some fall outs. The pigmentation is good as well. You may have some trouble with blending these shadows. I would suggest applying a good eye primer as well as a base before applying these shadows for a good blend. You can always use them own it own too. Would I keep this in my everyday look? Not really. I use this occasionally, for a very quick eye makeup to the groceries.

Long Lasting Lipsticks & XXX L Lip Gloss

I love these lipsticks and lipglosses! I bought two of each just to test them, but I will go back and purchase some more. There are so many shades available from, nudes to pinks to violets to reds. The choices are endless! The lipsticks are super moisturizing. The pigmentation is awesome too. The only downfall is the long last and smudge! Yes, if your drinking a cup of tea, expect a smudge both on the lips and the cup. If you want a more intensified color then apply a lip primer. I would recommend using these when you know you will be out for a short period of time. If your fine with a few touch ups during the day, then take these with you. The lipsticks have a hint of scent to them. I don't mind it as long as they smell good. I love the packaging of these lipsticks and the black cover makes it look very classy.

I love the lipglosses equally! I believe they give an extra shine and moisture to the lips. The colors look very vibrant on lips. The shades I used are frosted pink and glamour to go. Again, endless possibilities of shades. I am sure you will find your favourite. Apply them own its own or on top of lipstick, they won't disappoint you. The brush applicator is good too. The product doesn't droop on the applicator and takes the product efficiently. One coat gives you an amazing result. The value of this product is pretty good compared to the high quality it gives. A must have for all lip gloss lovers!

Essence Gel Eye Liner & Mascara's

The gel eyeliner I have been using is in the shade blackest black. One thing that comes to my mind when purchasing a gel eyeliner is the pigmentation. I usually wear black so I don't look for variety in colors. The quality is the only thing that matters when buying any eye liners. This one is really good. It lasts longs, can be built for smokey effect. Make sure you use an angled brush to get a perfect winged eyeliner.

The two mascara's I have are both in the black shade. Generally, I don't like mascara in makeup routines, and so I have a few that I use. I don't purchase them very often. However, when I used these I was instantly in love with them. You do need to use the product twice to get good coverage on your eyelashes. The "volume curve" mascara has a curved wand to get those curves and volume at the same time. The "all eyes on me" have a slim straight wand to grab all the lashes individually for an everyday look. Both do get the job done.

Try Essence!

      Hina,

I enjoyed your article on the Essence line. I have yet to find a more impressive eyeliner than the Essence (automatic) long lasting liner. I've tried high end, low end, and every price point in between. This liner has excellent pigmentation and staying power, even on the waterline. It is very easy to work with, and best of all, so inexpensive.

Hi, Patricia. Thank you for your comment. :) It is awesome to hear that you want to try some of Essence makeup. Yes, they are affordable. Essence's long lasting lipsticks start from $2.99 and their lip gloss start from $2.49 at ulta.com. If you were to find these in Canada, then you are looking at approx $3.49 for lipsticks and $2.99 for lip gloss. The lip products are great quality. I would start with those for sure. :)
