Tattoo Trends - Body Art or Tacky Scars?

Updated on December 29, 2016

Why People get Tattoos

Many people over the age of 18 get tattoos on any parts of their bodies, as a form of body art or expression. Tattoos are popular with people that are in the music industry, urban areas, and rich neighborhoods as well. Most common parts of the body that men get tattoos on are their back, arms, chest, neck, hands, and legs. Women get tattoos in common parts of the body such as, upper breast, upper shoulder-blade, hip area, lower back, and ankles. But these days people are getting tattoos any and everywhere they want on their bodies.

Sometimes women's tattoos are called tramp-stamps because the tattoos are on parts of the body that's sexual such as their buttocks, thighs, hips, or breast. And the tattoos that are on these sexual parts of the body may be pictures of cherries for examples, or other pictures that are of a sexual reference.

Tattoo gun instruments in many tattoo parlors should be sterilized before every new customer. The virus Hepatitis C can be transferred from one tattoo client to another if the tattoo instruments aren't properly sterilized. Hepatitis C is a viral infection that can affected the liver. And many tattoos are given in jails and prisons by inmates, this is one easy way to get the Hepatitis C virus.

More Reasons Why People get Tattoos

Some tattoos are done in beauty salons for cosmetic beauty purposes such as applying: eyebrows, eyeliner, moles/beauty marks, lip-liner, etc. Cancer patients and alopecia patients are more likely to get the cosmetic tattoo procedure if their eyebrows won't grow back.

Reasons people get tattoos:

  • Art
  • Religion
  • Tribal
  • Inspirations meanings
  • Deceased person name or photo
  • Lover's name or photo
  • Mother's name or photo
  • Other family members name or photo
  • A celebrity's name or photo
  • Cosmetic purposes
  • Gang affiliation
  • Motorcycle Gang
  • College sorority
  • Gothic or Satanic
  • Other groups and affiliations

There's a time when people no longer want their tattoos, they want them removed for different reasons. It takes more time to remove tattoos than to get them, it may take months to remove one tattoo, and it's a timely process. The Hip Hop Mogul 50 Cent is in the process of getting a few of his tattoos removed, he was on a show called The View showing the tattoos on his arms that has been removed and the ones that were in the process of being removed.

Face Tattoos

The most controversial tattoos are the ones that people get on their faces. The professional boxer Mike Tyson has a tattoo on his face and other famous people such as Lil Wayne (Rapper), Gucci Mane (Rapper), The Game (Rapper), Wiz Khalifa (Rapper), Amber Rose (Model), Bird Man (Rapper), Soulja Boy (Rapper), Dennis Rodman (Retired Basketball Player), and others.

There are reality shows that glorify "getting inked," and there are people that express themselves through their tattoo art, which has resulted as addiction.

Many people believe that women and tattoos don't mix; tattoos on a woman can appear to be tacky. There are women that expose their upper body tattoos as they are walking down the wedding isle in a shoulder-less wedding dress, this is one way to see that tattoos on a woman can appear to be tacky. And it's not a good look when a lady is explaining to her new boyfriend about the ex-boyfriends name tattooed on her body. The Majority of people believe that women should stay nice and clean without getting any tattoo marks on their skin.

There are those that get tattoos as a dare or a game, and there are those people that get inked while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Getting permanent tattoos is a huge decision. People get tattoos out of revenge, love, hurt, obsession, self-destruction, fun, boredom, dare, negative influences, etc.

It's difficult to get a job at some places with visible tattoos, especially in a professional field of work. Covering the tattoos with a bandage or long sleeves might help, but it is difficult to hide visible tattoos during your whole time of being employed.

People have been deceived in thinking that if the tattoos they're getting are about Bible scriptures then it's alright with God.

For the people that already have tattoos and now they know better; "just ask the Heavenly Father for forgiveness and avoid getting any more tattoos."

♣ Think Before You Get Inked ♣

Verses of Scripture about Tattoos

♥ You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord. [Leviticus 19:28]

♥ You are the children of the Lord your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave the front of your head for the dead. [Deuteronomy 14:1]

♥ Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? [1 Corinthians 6:19]
