Best Hyperpigmentation Creams

Updated on October 30, 2014

The Best Hyperpigmentation Creams - Which Treatment Works Best?

Are you looking for a way to fade hyperpigmentation?

Tired of looking at the dark skin spots and brown patches on your face?

Hyperpigmentation creams and treatments can help to dramatically reduce their appearance.

Lets take a look at some of the best ways to treat hyperpigmentation, and help you achieve a more even complexion.

What Is Hyperpigmentation?

What Is It? And What Causes It?

Hyperpigmentation is a skin condition that causes darker spots or patches of skin. It can affect just about any part of the body, but it's more predominant on the face.

Because it commonly affects the face, and the embarrassment it can cause, finding a way to reduce the its appearance is a common question.

Hyperpigmentation is caused when the body over produces a chemical known as "melanin".

This normally happens when the skin experiences a trauma of some kind, sun damage is a major cause, inflammation from other skin conditions and recently healed outbreaks of acne (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation) can all cause the condition.

Hyperpigmentation can also be hereditary, the commonest condition being freckles.

Hyperpigmentation Creams Vs Clinical Procedures

What Are The Other Options?

There are a number of options for hyperpigmentation removal.

Laser Therapy - Chemical Peels - Micrdermabrasion.

# There are two forms of laser treatment for hyperpigmentation, intense pulse light (IPL) and laser light.

IPL treatment is normally used when larger areas of discoloration need to be removed. Laser light is used on more stubborn areas such as dark age spots.

# Chemical peels are also used to remove pigmentation marks. Just as the name suggests, this process involves applying a chemical to the skin, which in turn will make the skin blister and peel off, leaving new skin underneath.

# Microdermabrasion is a relatively new technique in which a specialized tool is used to "scrub" the surface of the skin, removing the dead skin cells. A course of treatments is usually required.

The laser and chemical peel treatments will require a certain downtime for the healing process to take its course, as these treatments will cause scabbing.

Microdermabrasion is a relatively simple process with no visible after effects, hence its nickname - "the lunchtime peel ".

These treatments can all have decent results, but they do come with their risks. The often hefty price tag also puts these kind of procedures out of reach for many.

Home Remedies For Hyperpigmentation

The Natural Approach

Taking a more natural approach to reducing the appearance of darker patches of skin is the first route for most.

Trying home remedies for hyperpigmentation is a great place to start.

Lemon is well known for is anti-bacterial properties, but it also contains a bleaching agent that can sometimes be effective in treating mild cases of hyperpigmentation.

Potato is very effective in treating skin burns, and it also contains a bleaching agent that can combat the appearance of hyperpigmentation.

Aloe vera is probably the best known plant extract in terms of skin care. Aloe vera is highly effective in treating all manner of skin conditions, and is effective for hyperpigmentation.

The use of natural home remedies will definitely help remove pigmentation marks and help to get rid of dark patches of skin on the face.

Hyperpigmentation Creams

An Effective Affordable Solution

Undoubtedly most people's choice, hyperpigmentation creams are a non invasive, affordable and highly effective solution.

Over the last few years there has been much debate over the use of hydroquinone 4 bleaching cream for hyperpigmentation.

Although effective at reducing the appearance of skin discolorations, there was much concern about the side effects of this compound.

Worries over skin inflammation, irritation, and not least, cancer, have put many people off buying any product that contains the chemical.

Hydroquinone is currently banned from sale in Europe, and many other countries while tests continue.

Following these concerns, many producers of hyperpigmentation creams have decided to concentrate on natural cures.

Although there are many to choose from, the best hyperpigmentation cream is a product called Meladerm.

Launched in 2003, Meladerm has won countless awards, and receives consistently good reviews.

Meladerm is a secret formula of 100% natural plant extracts, containing zero chemicals.

A few well known brand names have tried to compete, but as with all these things, you usually pay for the name rather than product itself.

Compared to the riskier options available, I think Meladerm is definitely the best cream for hyperpigmentation.

Find out more about Meladerm.

Many people would like to know how they can hold of Meladerm in their particular country, hopefully this excerpt from the Meladerm site will help.

International Shipping:

One day I finally decided to get rid of all of the little scars that I've had since I was a little girl-- I'm 24 now, and I'm using PureHealPlus* http://www.purehealplus.com/ 3-4 times a day. I have seen considerable progress on scar removal and it's been about a month and a half. Great stuff. Don't expect a miracle (your scar to fade in a week). Just be patient, and it will fade

I've been using the Citrus Clear Sensitive Moisturizer for 6 months now. It's the only moisturizer that doesn't break me out. The liquorice root has also helped to get rid of the hyperpigmentation on my face. Try it - it works for hyperpigmentation.

This is no wonder miracle serum!! You just have to try everything until you find something that works for you and then keep using it. I am using the Lady Soma Renewal Serum because I have seen benefits after using it for 10 days - it has smoothed out my skin and slightly reduced the pigmentation on my cheek. The two KEY ingredients in the Lady Soma Renewal Serum are (1) Vitamin C - helps to create younger, firmer skin while fading signs of sun damage and post-acne marks. (3) Hyaluronic Acid - a superior moisture binder that retains over a 1000 times its weight in water within the cells of skin, making it an excellent moisturizer.

it works for me, and I am sticking with it !

Acne scars, aging, hormone estrogen levels, reactions to prescription drugs such as salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide are all causes of hyperpigmentation. Some people use bleaching creams to treat hyperpigmentation, but these can take up to 6 months to show any results at all, if any, and can contain all kinds of harmful chemicals. Laser treatments are also being used to treat hyperpigmentation, but these treatments are very expensive and can sometimes make the condition worse rather than better. Glycolic acid is what I recommend. I have been using Made from Earth's Grapefruit Glycolic Wash - and it has really helped with my hyperpigmentation. I like that its organic - especially because I have sensitive skin. I recommend it to you - best of luck!

i am 50. Asian skin with light pigmentation but it's killing me because it's right on my cheeks! I would like to get a good remedy for this. Whatever the product may be (eg. meladerm) - does it come with BB cream? Because I don't like the hassle of putting so many things on my face. I like something practical, of resonable price and most importantly I look good! Appreciate your prompt response as I'm going shopping now. So facsinacted with the product review on this! Thank a bunch!!
