Braided Hairstyles For Girls

My daughters finally have enough hair for some cute and easy braided hairstyles. We have recently started moving on from pigtails and started experimenting with different styles of braids. I have included some pictures of French and rope braids. Braids are neat any easy hairstyles for toddlers and school age girls.

The first picture of the cute little girl's braided hairstyle is a rope braid. I started on the left side of her head with two strands of hair than continued gathering hair similar to a French braid, working my way around to the other side of her head. I secured the end of the braid with a cute yellow barrette.

How To Do a Rope Braid

Here is a tutorial for the rope braided hairstyle in my intro photo. It can be done with very short thin hair. You can see a picture of my daughter with her hair down at . Cute Hairstyles For Little Girls I really like fench and rope braids on my daughters because it makes it look like they have so much more hair than they really do.

You can create a beautiful masterpiece with a little time, patience, skill and of course a little girl with a head full of hair. I am proud to feature a picture of my friend's daughter.

She created this braided hairstyle one evening while styling her daughter's hairs. It is perfect for a school dance, a day out with mom and of course, Valentine's Day.

Easy Braided Hairstyle For Little Girls - Practical and Easy

The girls' hair is still too short for a single French braid down the center. It is the perfect length for two French braids. These braids are with the strands being braided from the inside to the outside. This hairstyle holds up nicely when the girls are running and playing. I use a little water on the brush when I am braiding their hair it helps catch the little fly away pieces of hair and makes the braids look neater.

This is another French Braided Hairstyle for little girls. This is with the strands of hair braided from the outside to the inside. The only other way I can think to describe it is to compare it to twirling jump ropes in double dutch. The concept of twirling the ropes from the outside in or inside out is similar to French braiding hair. The braiding tutorial will be very helpful if you have never French braided hair.

Braiding Hairstyle For Little Girls

Here is an easy French braided Hairstyle for little girls. I wanted the braids to look more like a crown instead of two straight french braids down the back of her head. I started each braid closer to the frame of her face instead of where I normally start the braids.

I only gathered hair from the outside while I was braiding. I really liked the way this hairstyle turned out. It was an easy change that made such a cute difference. I finished off the hairstyle with a clear rubber band. This hairstyle would also look really cute with a pretty ribbon weaved through it.

This hairstyle is similar to a French Braid but I only used two strands of hair instead of three.

An upside down French braid is our newest hairstyle. I love it. I really wish it would have come out a little better but my girls thought it was torture to hold their head upside down. This cute hairstyle is perfect for school pictures or a trip to the park.

Hold head upside down and comb all of the hair down. French braid from the bottom up making a ponytail high on the head. The girl in the photo finished off her hairstyle with a few messy curls.

I simply French braided the hair across the head into a side ponytail. You could also leave the end unbraided and curl it.

How to Prevent Fuzzy Braids and Cornrows

I absolutely love braided hairstyles but I am definitely a novice. I love learning new techniques and hairstyles. Chocolate Hair/Vanilla Care is one of my favorite hairstyling blogs. Rory Hadley blogs to help families of adopted children learn how to properly care for their children's hair. Check out her amazing hair gallery. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Learning to Braid Straight Hair

My daughter's aren't too happy with my recent braiding obsession. They were okay with the simple french braids but I love the endless possibilities when it comes to braiding hair. I have learned that it takes a lot more than watching Youtube videos and browsing hair blogs. It takes practice and patience. I love the way tight micro braids look on little girls but it will take a few more braiding sessions before I can really feel comfortable with my braiding technique.

Don't get discouraged if your braids are loose or your hair parts are a little crooked. Keep practicing.

I braid my girl's hair anytime they will sit down long enough for me to grab a comb and some rubber bands.
