Custom Tattoo Design Contest

Updated on February 19, 2016

Tattoo Design Service

You must be here because you're thinking about getting a tattoo. I had wanted a tattoo for years and finally got started thanks to Tattoodo. I wrote this to describe to you how this great tattoo design site works, how it worked for me, and how you too can get a custom tattoo design for an affordable price. If you're having trouble narrowing down your tattoo ideas like I was, you really need to check Tattoodo.

I knew I wanted a tattoo - well at least one. I knew I wanted one of my tattoos to have something to do with my two daughters. Beyond that, I had a ton of photos of tattoos I've saved on my computer/phone over years. There were elements of many that I've seen that I liked, and my ideas overwhelmed me. I knew I couldn't go get a tattoo without knowing exactly what I wanted, or at least more than just a vague idea.

One day when I was surfing the internet and looking at tattoo images I came across an ad for this site that Ami James had something to do with. I was intrigued, having been a big Miami Ink fan and loving his work. So I clicked the ad and discovered Tattoodo. Little did I know that Tattoodo would be the beginning of my tattoo dreams coming true!

How Does Tattoodo Work?

Tattoodo is basically a tattoo/artist database of sorts that you submit your ideas to for tattoo design help, but it's really more like a tattoo design contest. It starts at $99. You describe what you want, what your ideas are for your tattoo, and how much you will pay for the tattoo design. The tattoo designers then compete to win your money by submitting tattoo designs.

As designs are submitted, you're notified and you can review it, rate it, and respond to the artist with feedback. Each artist that you provide feedback to can then go and make changes/edits to their design and resubmit it for your review. This can be done with each and every artist that submits a design for your contest.

Lastly, you choose the tattoo design winner. That artist then gets your money, and you end up with a completely custom tattoo design created in conjunction with you and your ideas. It's a true win-win situation!

My Custom Design Tattoo Contest

I chose to go with the minimum of $99, and I had around eight to ten artists submit tattoo designs to my contest. After about a week or two I ended up selecting a winner after collaborating with him and making some edits. It then took me about another year to save money and find a tattoo artist locally that I wanted to go to.

By the way, Tattoodo will also help you find an artist by suggesting tattoo artists in your area!

The pictures to the right show some of the submissions and below is the final design from my Tattoodo design contest, as well as the actual tattoo of it that I got just a few months ago.
