Why I use Dr. Bronner's for Everything

Updated on November 14, 2014

I've never really been picky about my choice of soaps for bathing, at least not when I was younger.

However things started to change a few years ago, when my skin started to get sensitive to certain brands of soaps and shampoo. At first, I ignored the symptoms but as my skin became drier and especially uncomfortable during the winter seasons, it was apparent that I needed to change what I was using. The natural aging process and the fact that my body wasn't producing as much oil as it used to didn't help either.

One day over coffee at Starbucks, my friends and I started talking about skin care and I was surprised to find out that they also noticed these changes to their skin and one of them admitted that he can't use anything that's not organic anymore. One of the products that he mentioned was one called Dr. Bronner's do after our coffee session, he went to the gym while I walked over to the local pharmacy where I decided to purchase a bottle of Dr.Bronner's Magic Soap in Lavender. At first I thought it a bit pricey but after a few weeks of use, it turned out that I was not only saving my skin, but in the long run, I was also saving some money.

How Exactly Does It Feel?

Initially I used it in the shower in place of my normal liquid soap and almost immediately, I could feel a difference. The soap had a pleasant fragrance which smelled "natural" and not in any way imitation-smelling at all. Chemically-created fragrances usually give me a headache so I was pleased that I was headache-free during my bathing process. The other thing I noticed was hot quick and clean the soap rinsed off the skin, leaving no oily residue whatsoever. It's hard to describe in words but I've never felt this "clean" in my life!

A week later, I did some research and found out that you could use this wonder soap as a shampoo. Incredibly, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap apparently does that and so much more.

Other Ways to Use Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap

  • Use it as a toothpaste or mouthwash
  • Gentle enough to use for babies and pets
  • Can be used as laundry detergent
  • Use it to wash your dishes
  • Perfect to take on camping trips

Dr. Bronner's is Eco-Friendly

The company also states that the product is all natural, biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Even the bottles are made from post-consumer recycled plastic, which is something to think about in this day and age.

It's been a few years since I've been a fan of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps. It comes in a variety of fragrances and with the exception of the fragrance-free version, I've tried them all. I find that each fragrance affects my mood in various ways, but all in a good way.

Natural Oils that Enhance and Improve Mood

Lavender is my favorite of them all. As soon as I open the bottle, my tension literally melts away and I'm not kidding. Peppermint and Tea Tree wakes me up in the morning while the Eucalyptus and Citrus Orange is perfect for the hot summer season. Almond and Rose become my favorites during the fall and winter months. I have a friend who swears by the Tea Tree, which helps his occasional dermatitis flare ups.

Simply the best

You really can't go wrong with Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps. From bathing to washing your hair, doing the laundry to cleaning the home, you end up saving some money while doing yourself, and the environment a favor.
