Does making ones own clothes say I'm poor or I want to be creative and unique?

I make 85% of my own clothes and that of my two children, and they love the sewn clothes better than ready-made ones, because of all the embellishments and nice finishing touches i put into it. I love sewing my own clothes even though i save more than 50% making my own clothes, this doesn't mean i regard myself to be poor.
    Creativity and uniqueness? Yes.

Making my own clothes doesn't say "I'm poor."  It says, "I know exactly what I want and I can make it myself."  I sew because I want to make my clothes in my favorite colors, fabrics and styles instead of having to accept what a store buyer puts on the rack.  I'm forever grateful that my mother taught me to sew.
