Updated on July 28, 2011

How to get healthy shiny hair

Having shiny hair is something almost all us us desire, because when your hair looks healthy and shiny so to you. Without having shine in your hair it looks dull and lifeless. Fortunately, there are many different methods that you can use get your hair to shine
in your hair.

Here are a few methods that you can use to get your hair shiny......

Get a clarifying treatment

A clarifying treatment will remove shampoo residue and product build up that can leave your hair looking dull. You can get a clarifying treatment professionally at the salon or you can do it yourself at home. Apply some clarifying shampoo in your hair and cover your hair with a bag and apply heat. You can use a hooded dryer, heat lamp, or just use a blow dryer with the hot setting for 20 minutes. Use a clarifying shampoo once or twice a month to keep it up.

Brush your hair with a natural bore bristle brush

The bristles in the hair brush drag your natural oils through the hair.  Your own natural oils can give you the most beautiful shine in your hair.  Back in the day people used to use a natural bore bristle brush as a way to cleanse their hair.  Do you remember Marsha Brady from the "Brady Bunch" brushing 100 strokes through her hair every night?

Style your hair with heat

Flat irons, curling irons, hot rollers and blow dryers are all some of the tools that you use to style our hair with heat.  When heat is applied on the hair it causes the cuticle of the hair shaft to lay down giving your hair a shinier appearance.  Use heat on your hair with caution, because it can cause damage to your hair if abused.

Get a Glaze treatment at the salon

Most of salons will offer a Glaze treatment.  It is similar to a semi-permanent hair color in the way it penetrates into the hair shaft and that it will gradually shampoo out over 6 to 8 weeks.

Use some oil as a finishing product

Using an oil can be a final touch to any hair style. You can apply some to your hair before or after you blow it dry.  These products can add the look of luster to your hair that it needs.

Learning how to achieve shiny looking hair can be a big plus and many of us can benefit from a little shine in our hair.
