A Skydrivers Camera Fall From 125000 Without A Damage Capturing A Video

Updated on September 18, 2012

Recently one Canadian skydiver's camera unclasped from the box when he jumped out of the flight at 12500m height fell safely on the ground. The interesting part of this is that the camera has continued to capture video and after landing on the grass filed it captures the skydivers landing which include the owner of the camera.

This Gropro camera has taken 2.30 minutes to reach the ground. A fellow skydiver found this on the grass intact and handed it over to the owner who is amazed to see it intact.

Adding the video to you tube he mentions;

bumped my head on the door frame on exit unclasping the latch on the box. The camera popped out on exit at 12.500 and fell straight down onto the landing area at the DZ and was recovered by a fellow skydiver. It even caught our landings. Not one scratch on the body or lens. Still can't believe that I got it back and that it is totally fine. A buddy the same day who is one of our camera flyers had the same thing happen but with his SLR....not the same result. I'm definitely a gopro fan for life these little guys are bomb proof.

Fallowing is the video as captured by Gopro. Warning : if you have epilepsy I strongly suggest you not to watch the video.

Gopro is a very popular camera among skydivers. It is versatility is the main feature with most of the camera having the capability of Wi-Fi and HD quality. Gopro is specialized in tiny "wearable" waterproof and shockproof camera and video recorders such as helmet cameras commonly used in adventure photography.

Gopro has different mounting system and gives you the freedom to use it in different settings. Tough plastic components gives the strength and durability and comb joint and nut and bolt make it more flexible to use.

1. Handlebar Seatpost mount:

This is for the use in mountain bikes and this can be fastened to any round tube with a diameter in the range of 2 cm to 3.5 cm.

2. Roll Bar Mount:

Share similarities to the one above. This can be clamped on circular tubes of 3.5cm - 6.35cm size and mostly used in sport cars.

Chest mount harness:

This one is the largest mount and fit on to the man's body. This has also been used to mount the camera to animals like dogs.

Are you also a fan of Gopro cameras? Please leave your experience and thoughts about the video in the comment box below.
