ATIV Book 9 Live Rundown
I was in the market for a replacement laptop after my previous brick sparked through the side and spat out some bad smelling smoke. Lightweight was my first criteria. Scooting to the station everyday in a suit with a laptop is taxing a the best of times.
Also I wanted to find one that was a 13 inch screen; the larger regular sized screen laptops are just that wee to big to fit nicely into most satchels. The 三星 ativ book weighs in at around 1.44kg which is almost half the weight compared to the next similar net-book of a similar price. One of ATIV's secret to its lightweight is its omission of a cd/dvd ROM but thinking back, its been a heck of a long time since I used this primitive media. Also, you may have read in my previous post that I use a wireless hard drive which can deliver all the storage I could ever need.
I came across the ATIV book 9 lite which seemed to meet my requirements , but it gives so much more. It comes with a 128GB solid state drive, which is not only super fast to boot/resume (important when you are pulling it in and out of your bag on the train) wanting to access it, but also a solid state can take more of a punch with the vibrations experienced with the commute to work on the scooter.

It cuts out a lot of the unnecessary real estate such as where you may see a numeric pad, but apart from that you really don't feel restricted when using it.
The touchpad is a little finicky but that may be down to personal preference as I'm used to having to push really hard on my last old laptop.
Windows 8 was another touch that I'm really impressed with. I actually had a copy of windows 7 with me when I went in to purchase it, knowing that I'm resistant to changing away from my beloved friend 7. However the ATIV book 9 integrates rather well with the touchpad. With the ATIV book, it feels as though there is less and less of a gap between laptops and smart phones as they slowly merge their alternate powers of functionality with usability.

How about it?
Would you consider buying the Book 9 Live?
For such a low price the first reservation I had straight away was how the performance would be affected. In the past even fair priced laptops don't feel like they're running a V8. I was very pleasantly surprised with how she handled. Between the 4GB of ram, and the solid state drive there was never once a frustrating moment waiting for my computer to respond. It can adequately handle my video editing needs as-well which is a nice bonus.
The ATIV color comes in a sleek black or an even sleeker white. It’s thin, sexy and easy to play with. fast and does everything I could ask for in a in a net-book at this price. I love my new toy and I think you will too.
