I have always wanted an Amazon Kindle eBook Reader. Unfortunately it's still not available to non-US residents. I am thrilled by the details Amazon had just released about the new version of Amazon Kindle but saddened further by its inaccessaiblity to me. Named Amazon Kindle 2, after the original version, the machine is actually a new machine all together. You might ask what is new about it. Here are the answers I have gathered from the various sources on the internet:
Much thinner: Amazon Kindle 2 measures slightly over 1/3 inch in thickness, just the size of a magazine.
Much lighter: Amazon Kindle 2 weighs 10.2 ounces, lighter than most printed books.
Much faster downloads: Amazon Kindle 2 downloads most books in less than 60 seconds.
Read longer: The battery of Amazon Kindle 2 lasts 25% longer than that of the original Amazon Kindle.
Much bigger storage: Amazon Kindle 2 holds 1500 books.
Turns your page quicker: Amazon Kindle 2 does this 20% bigger than the original Amazon Kindle does.
Reads-to-me function: Amazon Kindle 2 comes with a new text to speech function which enables it to read the book, article or magazine of your choice.
Improved display: Amazon Kindle 2 comes with 16 gray-scales matching the real printed page.
What stays the same?
The price of $359 and free shipping with Super Saver Shipping.
The wide selection of 230,000 different titles.
Certain titles exclusive to Amazon Kindle users.
