App Tutorial/ Review: Dice with Buddies
Objective
The objective of the game is to score overall higher points in dice combinations. You get to roll the dice three times and each time you roll you get to select which dice you want to keep for the next roll. Combinations are worth a certain amount of points as well as multiple dice with the same number. There is only five dice, so you must choose wisely which you would like to keep and which you would like to discard.
Suites: Upper Half
The Objective of the upper half is to get as many of that specified number as you can. For example: If your trying to get 6’s then you should try to get all 5 dice as 6’s. This will add the numbers on the top together. If the top portion reaches 63 points you will receive a bonus 35 points add to your overall score.
Suites: Lower Half
There are 7 different suites that you are trying to achieve.
-3 of a kind: This is 3 or more of the same numbered dice.
-This results in the dice being added together
-4 of a kind: This is the same thing a 3 of a kind but with 4 dice
-Also resulting in all of the dice being added together
-Full House: This is 3 of a kind and a pair for 25 points
-Small Straight: 4 consecutive numbers resulting in 30 points
-Large Straight: 5 consecutive numbers resulting in 40 points
-5 of a kind: 5 of any number resulting in 50 points
-Chance: This will just add all the dice together
Twitter Sharing
Sharing:
The “Dice With Buddies” app has sms invite capability as well as Facebook and twitter integration. You can invite your contacts for a certain amount of bonus rolls depending on the amount of people you are inviting. In the Facebook Section it shows you what friends play “Dice With Buddies” and also invite ones that don’t have the app or play the game. The Twitter Button pulls up a tweet that is already filled in and includes your user name so your followers on twitter can play against you.
Bonus Rolls:
At the beginning of every game, each player is given 1 bonus roll. Bonus Rolls do not transfer over between games but are very useful so I suggest keeping this great feature in mind. You can also purchase bonus rolls in the shop but only 1 bonus roll can be used per turn. So if you buy 35 extra bonus rolls, you can only use 1 roll on top of the 3 that you are given. This is to prevent people from continuously rolling until they get 5 of a kind.
Nudges:
Nudges are a great way to send a notification to one of the players that are taking forever to play you back. After a certain amount of time a little nudge icon will appear on the side of the game that is inactive and all you have to do is tap it and this will let the other player know that your waiting for them to play you back.
Chat:
To chat go into your existing game and tap on the button on the top right and this will open a new window. In this window not only can you send messages to the opposing player but also you can view the full history of all the games you played against the specific opponent. This will help you figure out who is that harder player that keeps bringing down your win ratio. When you find this person, its time to step up your game!
Stats Section
Stats:
There is a stats section to show you how many games you have completed, won, lost, tied and forfeited. In this section there is also a percentage of your win ratio making it even easier to compare progress with friends. This is a fun way to keep track of how well you are doing.
Bonus Roll Shop
Shop:
In the bonus roll shop you can purchase several different amounts of bonus rolls for different prices. The shop offers 3 rolls for $0.99, 10 rolls for $2.99,35 rolls for $9.99,72 rolls for $19.99,185 rolls for $49.99 and 380 rolls for $99.99.
Tips:
When playing, do not get to ahead of yourself cause sometimes the obvious answer is not the best. There are a lot of different strategies and some work for you but others wont. You will find out your own way and the game will become even more addicting. In my personal experience I try to get 63 points or more on the top portion for that extra 35 point bonus but at the same try to make sure you don’t miss any of the opportunities on the bottom portion cause sometimes that specific suite wont come along for a little while.
My Opinion in General:
This game was well put together and is extremely fun. I play several games throughout the day and it never gets boring. One of my favorite things about this app was the stats section. Unlike any other game that you can verse your friends, this one shows you how well your doing and how well your friends are doing. I recommend this app to anyone that like to play strategy games or just likes to challenge friends and a challenge in general.
Rating:
I would give “Dice With Buddies” a full 5 stars and a 10 out of 10 for app review.
There are minor things I hope to see in the future but I guess we will see where this app goes and if it grows in popularity.
Good Luck And ENJOY!!
