Assurance Wireless Program is a federal Lifeline Assistance program brought to you by Virgin Mobile. It is a government benefit program supported by the federal Universal Service Fund. For those whom receive TANF and have children on the Free Lunch and Reduced Meals Program and for those whom live in the United States.
The program includes one free cell phone with 250 free minutes that you may use for talk ,text and the web. There is no annual contract, 911 access,free calls to Customer Care. The coverage is on the Nationwide Sprint network. You also have the ability to keep your current phone number. And the phone comes with a Voicemail Account, Call Waiting and Caller ID. If you need more minutes and texts, these are the rates:
$5 Talk & Text: 500 Total Voice Minutes & 500 Texts
$20 Talk & Text: 1000 Total Voice Minutes & 1000 Texts
$30 Unlimited Talk, Text & Web: Unlimited Talk Minutes, Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Data
It is only available for one wireless or wireline account per household. People whom have separate households that live at the same address are eligible. This includes residents of homeless shelters and nursing homes. People with temporary addresses are also eligible. You will receive an application via the mail within a 3-4 wk period. The application is easy to fill out. You need only return the application signed and filled out completely. You must also include a copy of your child's reduced and free meals eligibility notification letter. The eligibility notification letter is usually sent to you via the mail at the beginning of the school year. If you have lost or misplaced your child's eligibilty notification letter you can call Nutritional Services in your area and have a copy mailed to you.
Once you return your application you can call 1-888-898-4888 and check on the status of your application at any time using your application's personnel six digit identification number that you have choosen when you intially call to receive the application sent.
After your application is reviewed you will receive a letter letting you know their decision on whether or not you are approved for the program. And what additional information they may or may not need.
