Best Gaming Desktop Under 1000

Updated on March 24, 2011

Buying a new desktop can be a daunting experience, especially when you are looking for the best gaming desktop you can find under $1000.As the famous quote goes :"It is a poor workman who blames his tools" , though this quote may be true in most circumstances, it definitely does not go with gaming, I personally think that, a gamer is only as good as the computer on those games, and the difference between winning and losing could lie in whether a computer lags a second or two behind.

When looking for the best gaming desktop, or when you are looking just for a new computer, there are 4 system specs you must take a closer look into, in no particular order, these four are: Video Card, Processor, Ram and Motherboard.Ofcourse storage is also a very important factor, as well the operating system the computer comes with.

iBUYPOWER Gamer Extreme A954i Gaming Desktop Computer

This iBUYPOWER Gamer Extreme Gaming Computer is an absolute powerhouse. This system can effortlessly deal with the newest FPS games. The powerful back engine is enough to leave anybody drooling and will comfortably run any top level software package, making it an equally viable solution to those in the creative industries. For your money you will get the following:

  • Intel i5 2400 (3.1GHz)
  • NVIDIA GTX460 1GB (HDMI)
  • 1TB Serial ATA-III
  • 8GB DDR3-1333
  • Windows 7 Home Premium

It should be noted that this system does not come complete with monitor, which needs to be purchased separately. You would have to buy a powerful Full HD 1080p LED Monitor, if you are to make to most of that that awesomely powerful NVIDIA GTX460 graphics chip.Though the computer itself costs $999.99 at the time of writing this, you don´t have much left in your $1000 budget, but if you to decide to buy this computer, I have recommended one monitor in the Amazon capsule below.

That is one powerful machine, and would potentially meet the demands of the latest games for about 3 years. It can easily meet the demands for longer period of time, if the purchaser chosed to expand the memory to 16gb, which the motherboard of this computer allows, though that itself would not be enough to meet the upcoming games, for that the purchaser should also update the graphics chip. With a fantastically efficient Intel i5 processor, a massive hard drive, this system is easily one of the best choices for those with a budget limited to $1000.

HP Pavilion Elite HPE-230F Desktop PC

This HP Pavilion Elite, despite being at the bottom of a six system range, is and awesome machine. This system can easily handle every game that will come out in the 3 year range, though I can not guarantee that, because the technology is advancing just so fast and games have higher and higher demands, when it comes to hardware, not that much on software, you´ll only need to update your software approxemetely once in 5 years to play the newest game. But now let´s get back to this particular computer. This is what you get for your investment:

  • AMD Phenom II 955 Quad-Core Processor (3.2 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache + 6 MB Shared L3 Cache, 4000 MHz System Bus, AMD 785G Chipset)
  • 8GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM memory (4 x 2GB for ultimate performance) (expandable to 16GB)
  • 1 Terabyte (7200 RPM) Serial ATA hard drive
  • Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner with LightScribe Technology
  • ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card with 1GB DDR5 dedicated graphics memory, HDMI, dual-link DVI, display port, and VGA capabilities
  • Windows7 Home Premium 64-bit
  • Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n
  • TV Tuner

It should be noted that this system does not come complete with monitor, which needs to be purchased separately.I have already recommended a monitor for the iBuypower Gaming Computer, the same monitor will be perfect with this machine as well, though in both cases your budget will go over $1000, however if you need to keep your budget below 10 Benjamins, I would recommend buying HP Pavilion Elite HPE-210F Desktop PC, which can be found below in the Amazon capsule, I have also recommended a Monitor, which will to make the most of that aggressively powerful ATI Radeon graphics chip. The keyboard and mouse are included.

All the HP Pavilion Elite machines are extremely powerful, and all of them will meet the demands of the latest games. These machines will be able to handle new games about three to four years, though I can not guarantee that. With a fantastically efficient quad-core processor, a massive hard drive, built in Wireless, and the industry leading HD graphics chip, this system is easily the best investment for those with a budget limited to $1000.A fantastic PC, and I am green with envy of anybody who currently owns it.
