Best Phone Covers for the Verizon Octane

Updated on November 14, 2011

Why You Need A Phone Case

Whenever you buy a new cell phone, the first thing you should do is get a new case for it. Why? Because no matter how careful you are, you may drop it! Believe it or not, phone covers really do protect your phone.

When my daughter got her first phone, I immediately put a case on it. She dropped it tons of times . . . and it never got damaged. When her case finally fell off after a year of use, we were busy and did not get a new case ordered right away. Big mistake. The first time she dropped it, it cracked! Expensive lesson.

Phone covers are not just for teens wanting to express themselves with a fancy cover. Everyone shoudl get a phone case.

Where to Buy a Phone Case

You can buy a case at the phone company store . . . but I would never do it. Your choices are limited, and the prices are way too high. The best way to find a phone case is through eBay or Amazon.

What Search Terms to Use

Use the terms "Octane" and "Phone Case." Also try "Phone Cover." If you want a certain color, add that term as well. If you want a specific kind of case, add a term such as "hard" or "rubber" or "bling." The more terms you use, the easier it is because you will narrow the results.

More Tips for Getting the Best Octane Phone Cover

When you compare prices, be sure to factor in shipping costs. Be sure to check the reviews on Amazon. Some phone cases are so cheap that they fall apart as soon as you get them. Avoid cases that only get one star on the Amazon reviews. You may want to get a screen protector at the same time. This is a piece of clear plastic that clings to the screen to prevent scratches. It's a good idea to put your name along with another contact number on a sticker on the phone so if you lose it, someone can contact you. Also enter into the address book and ICE contact. ICE stands for In Case of Emergency.
