Best Toshiba Laptop 2016

Updated on November 9, 2015

Toshiba makes very good laptops. I like their laptops because they are durable and good value for money.

In best Toshiba laptop 2016 we try to find you the right new Toshiba laptop for your needs. We have picked a number of good Toshiba laptops, in different price ranges and reviewed them below.

LCD VS LED laptop screens

If you look at the first Toshiba laptop we review it has a LCD screen while the rest all have LED. LED gives you a brighter screen and it uses less battery power to achieve it. However for the time being LCD screen provide better quality at the top end of laptops. When they sort the quality issues out all laptop screens will be LED.

Toshiba 16 inch Satellite A505-S6025

Toshiba’s 16” Satellite A505-S6025 laptop PC has:

  • 2.13GHz Intel i3-330M processor
  • 4GB DDR3 memory
  • 500GB hard drive with the Toshiba Hard Impact sensor
  • DVD optical drive
  • Nvidia GeForce 310M graphics card with 512MB memory
  • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS
  • 16” (diagonal) screen (16:9 ratio): TFT LCD at 1366 X 768 resolution - This is a very large and high resolution screen.
  • Weighs about 8 pounds
  • About 2” thick

The A505-S6025 laptop is a fairly powerful laptop. The CPU, GPU, RAM and hard disk are all very impressive. The features are similar to much more expensive laptops.

It has USB 2, HDMI, FireWire and other ports for high utility. It shows videos – and produces the sound – very well. It plays almost all games pretty well, so it has plenty of graphic and computing capability for the general user.

It is however bulky and heavy to carry around with you.

It may be possible to shop around and either save on cost or gain some performance – but it would be very difficult to obtain both advantages.

In reading user reviews we found that there where some serious manufacturing defects on the first thousand or so laptops sold. They have however sorted out their production issues, so you won't have problems with it now. I only mention it so you aren't scared away by those early user reviews.

Toshiba Satellite A665D-S6096 TruBrite LED 16-Inch

Popular 16 inch Toshiba notebook stats:

  • 1.7 GHz AMD Phenom II P940 quad-core processor
  • 4GB DDR3 memory
  • 500GB hard drive - SATA 5400 RPM
  • ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics card
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS
  • 16” (diagonal) screen (16:9 ratio): LED at 1366 X 768 resolution
  • Weighs about 5.8 pounds
  • Dimensions 14.98 x 10 x 1.48 inches

This laptop isn't high end, it does however deliver good value for the price.

Within this article, it competes most directly with the T115. It has the better specifications, but is priced about 1/3 higher. On the other hand, it shares the honors for “most memory” – at 4GB – with the high-end A505-S6025 laptop.

Unless the A505-S6025’s extra speed is the deciding factor, this A665D-S6096 may hit the sweet spot for price versus performance – where performance include the size of the hard drive and the overall weight.

It does not have an optical drive.

It is rated for 3 hours normal use. I wouldn't consider this a very mobile laptop, because of it's size and reletavily short battery charge.

Toshiba Satellite L505-ES5018 Laptop

This laptop PC has:

  • 2.2GHz Intel Pentium T4400 processor
  • 3GB DDR3 memory
  • 320GB hard drive
  • DVD Optical drive with Labelflash drive
  • Intel 4500M graphics card
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS
  • 15.6” (diagonal) screen (widescreen display): LED at 1366 X 768 resolution

This laptop PC is also a mid-scale laptop that hits its price-point very well. It does a fine job on video and media tasks. On this page, only Toshiba’s S6025 laptop has better specifications, but at about a 50% higher price.

Its screen is nearly as large as the S6025 laptop’s.

The Labelflash drive will print a visual image – in blue – onto a Labelflash DVD in 5 to 20 minutes. This is a very nice feature for avid DVD-burners who want a great label without going using a printer.

Toshiba Satellite T115D-S1120 LED

This laptop PC has:

  • 1.66GHz AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor
  • 2GB DDR2 memory
  • 250GB hard drive
  • DVD Optical drive with Labelflash drive
  • ATI Radeon HD 3200M graphics
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS
  • 11.6” (diagonal) screen (16:9 ratio): LED at 1366 X 768 resolution
  • Weighs about 6 pounds
  • About 1.4” thick

This laptop PC is thin and light for Toshiba’s Satellite series.

It is well-suited and well-priced for standard computing tasks. With “only” 2GB memory and 250GB on the hard drive, it is not designed for top performance.

Of the laptops in this review, it has the smallest memory (2GB), the smallest hard drive (250GB), and the smallest screen. The price is also the lowest. If price is the determining factor, then the T115D may well be the winner.

It does not have an optical drive.

It is rated for 9 hours normal use.

Yes, but Toshiba isn't the best make of laptop. Try HP. They are very good. I am on my HP G62X Notebook right now. I had it custom built, with a 500 gigabyte hard drive, a 1 gigabyte ATI graphics card, an Intel Core i3 processor at 2.4 gigahertz, eight gigabytes of RAM [a ton for a laptop of this size], and Windows 7 Home Premium. It runs any program and runs everything at a screaming fast speed. But this isn't an HP page is this? Toshiba is a very good brand, and I see some of their computers are like mine, but I think HP beats them.
