Can you see who views your Facebook profile

Updated on May 5, 2013

There are many Facebook applications that claim that they will tell you who your top stalkers are. To an extent they are fulfilling their promises by showing you information about who interacts most with your profile, but note the word ‘interacts’, this means that it only counts what you already know, for example the person who leaves the most messages and comments on your wall is placed at the top. These applications do not tell you information that you don’t already know and do not tell you who views your Facebook profile the most, which is probably what you were looking for.

Unfortunately, I am sorry to tell you that the information on who views who’s profile page is privilaged data that only Facebook itself has access to, and to be honest probably doesn’t store for very long. Facebook had prided itself on the privacy and how you do not have to worry about looking continuously through a friends profile because no one will ever know. No application has any access to the details of who views your page, the only ways to acheive this information would be to hack the information.

Facebook has not only done this to protect the users from humilitation or embaressement but also to make sure that social engineering does not go too far and the only party that has this power is Facebook and will probably stay this way. Sorry to have burst any bubbles of trying to find any secret admirers but you should stop looking because you are not going to find a way to find this information.

I am aware of privacy settings, but I am discussing the ability of applications to notify users which of their *friends* look at their profile, photos etc; rather than about which strangers view it.
