Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III: Review

With the making of the new Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, resolution has been improved as well as other several features like the Sensor (21.1 megapixels), the image processor (Dual DIGIC III), the shutter, the LCD monitor, the continuous shooting speed (up to five frames per second), etc. Canon added also several new features on the EOS-1Ds Mark III respect to the predecessor, like the dust reduction system, the noise reduction, the LCD Live View, etc.

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III is equipped with three different LCD displays: one on top, the other on the rear camera (monitor) and the last one also on the rear camera, below the main LCD, for icon display.
The camera is water and dust resistant with the body made of magnesium alloy.
Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III can process and save the images to SD and CF memory cards immediately.
Now, lets say that you forgot the memory card door open, that’s no problem because a warning alarm will sound so you will not loose any image that is still being written.
The Viewfinder in this model has been redesigned and is now larger and more bright.
Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III can connect to a Computer via wireless and can also customize up to six menu options using the feature “My Menu”. The camera is equipped with a little joystick controller, which is used to scroll through different menus.
Any default setting changes can now be seen immediately by the operator.

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III is equipped with a dust reduction system that shakes dust from the sensor whenever you turn the camera on or off. The sensor is covered also with an anti-static layer that prevents dust from sticking in the first place. This feature considerably reduces the necessity for cleaning it yourself.
The “Live View” mode, displays a real-time image on the LCD, but the problem about this mode is that the sensor heats up and when the camera gets to a certain temperature, an icon appears on the LCD and you will also experience an increase in image noise. Taking pictures at higher ISO will make the sensor heat up faster than at lower ISO.
With the included “Digital Photo Professional” software, you will be able to eliminate automatically, on the picture, any permanent mark that is on the sensor.
Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III features a new dedicated ISO button and the ISO setting is also displayed on the top LCD panel. Even at high ISO, Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III can provide you with amazing image quality and changing ISO setting is now very easy and fast.
Over all, this is a great camera that will help preserve long lasting memories… obviously, if you can afford it….
