Choetech USB-C Cable & Adapters First Impressions

Updated on April 20, 2016

What is USB Type C?

USB Type C is a specification for a reversible plug connector for USB devices and USB cables. It was developed around the same time as the USB 3.1 specification, but there is a distinction between the two.

39W USB C Adapter

The Choetech 39W USB C Adapter is amazing. It has an input of 100-240V, an output for Type C of 5V and 3A (Max), and USB 5V 2.4A*2 (Max). What does this all mean in reality? With this adapter for USB Type C, you can also charge two other devices that have USB 2 such as an iPad or a Samsung Galaxy device. Or if you have the latest macbooks with USB Type C, this adapter will work also. It will even charge your other devices faster as you will see this shown in the video below. This another great adapter to have for rapid charging. You can buy this product on Amazon and Choetech official website.

5V 3A USB-C Adapter

The Choetech model: TC0001 uses 5V and 3A USB C power. In testing, this charger rapid charges my Nexus 5X device in a matter of minutes! Yes, you have read right, in a matter of minutes. I had only 10% and once I plugged the charger into an outlet, I watched for the notification of rapid charging. It did start its process. Not even 10 minutes have passed and my device was already over 20% charging. I know some might not look at that as excitement, but that extra 10% will get you further than you know. Not only that, you don't have to wait by your phone and wait til it fully charges. Before you know it, your phone is ready for more use. This is a great adapter. It is a certify win.

Is Rapid Charging Worth it?

Now, a lot of people might not buy into the whole "Rapid charging" concept or idea just yet. It is still fairly new and hasn't been out for 1 year yet (almost now). Everyone has their own preference to how they want all their devices to power up or charge. Some like the quick charger such as Motorola's Turbo Charger 2.0, others like wireless charging that is found in a few devices such as most newer Galaxy phones and Google Nexus 6. Whichever the case may be, the rapid charging that comes in the USB C products and newer devices brings a great welcome addition. These products are meant to allow your device to keep enough juice and power to get you where ever it is you're heading without having continually plug in your device so often. So I say USB C charging is a must in today's fast lane world. It is worth it. It is there when you need it.
