Cisco Router Configuration Example
In the Configuring a Serial Interface : How to Configure the Serial Interface of a CISCO Router., I discussed the configuration process of a serial port of a CISCO router. After the discussion there is an exercise. The solution of that exercise is provided in this page:
Problem Definition:
You have given a CISCO router. You have to configure base on the following specifications:
- The router will be a DCE and bandwidth will be 256Kb.
- Assign IP address (172.16.55.1/24 ) on serial 3/0 port.
- Make sure that the router configured port is on.
Command line of configuring a router
Router>enable Router#configure terminal Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z. Router(config)#interface serial 3/0 Router(config-if)#ip address 172.16.55.1 255.255.255.0 Router(config-if)#bandwidth 256 Router(config-if)#clock rate 56000 Router(config-if)#no shutdown Router(config-if)#exit Router(config)#
if you have any difficulties of the above code then please read Configuring a Serial Interface : How to Configure the Serial Interface of a CISCO Router.
