Common Gadgets for bloggers and hubbers

Updated on April 3, 2011

Common gadgets

Please don't get me wrong, this is not about requirements for bloggers or hubbers in order for them to publish the best stories ever. We all know that writing is something inside our hearts that even without all these gadgets, we can always write our stories.

blogging and hubbing is all over the world, in my country, there are several Filipino bloggers who are frequently featured in a TV documentary. I just observed that, writing is not the only common thing among all of us, but also the gadgets that we use.

Computer (Desk top, Laptop or Notebook)

In the world of blogging and hubbing, computer and internet is a must. Majority of bloggers and hubbers have their own personal computers which made writing easier for them. Some of us use a Notebook computer that we can bring everywhere, so we can work on the spot. In my case I have two computers one laptop and one notebook . I always bring my notebook computer whereever I go, and work most of the time at my laptop at home.

But you can still blog and hub even without your own computer. I started that way. It's always easier to visit nearby internet cafe and then hub or blog. What I always do is I write my stories first in my fancy notebook or note pads, then I will just copy it when I'm in the computer house or internet cafe.

CAMERA, From Simple Digicam to SLR

If you are the kind of writer who loves to write about things and use photos to add impact to your story, Camera is of course a necessary gadget. Simple digicam can do the job, even cellphone camera will do. But if you want a more professional output and you have the budget, you can get an SLR and enroll to a photography class..

But again a professional camera may not be necessary, as one photographer said this "sometimes it's not the bow and arrow but the Indian", meaning it depends on one handling the camera, if you use the function of your camera very well, you may not need an SLR to have a good output.

In place of a camera, some uses thier artistic inclination, by sketching their own lay out and have it scanned so they can use it or post it in their blogs. Some uses the paint and clip art instead.

Cellphone Camera can also do the job

Like what the professional photographer said "it's not the bow and arrow, it's the indian", we may not need to have an SLR to produce quality output photo, just by learning the proper techniques, we can get the shot that we like.  I also use my cellphone camera in photo shooting my subjects, and it did not disappoint me so far.

Voice Recorder or Sony ICD

I saw one food blogger using this device in her interview with a chef who made the  dessert that she is about to feature in her blog. I guess for professional bloggers like them this is a necessary gadget for it will make work easier and in complete details. Though not really necessary in my case, This device can very useful in my other writing activities. For example I am planning to visit a butterfly farm, an interview with the caretaker is necessary so this device can be very useful.

Once upon a time or maybe until now, casette recorder is use to record important interviews or meetings, but during those times you needed to assure yourself that you have enough reserve of casette blank tapes and batteries. The ICD got rid of those inconveniences.

Explore your Cellphone

Check the Multimedia function, it might have the "Recorder functions", which can be used enought for one on one interview.

My Cherry Mobile T8 has this function, and I am so far testing its reliability.  It's good in "one on one" interview. To hear the sound clearly you can attach it to a mini speaker or at least use an earphone

Notebooks and Pens

Nothing will beat reliability when it comes to  recording what you have in mind. Without the presence of computer, it is best to write all ideas in our notebooks first. In spite of the gadgets that make work easier, I believe all bloggers, hubbers or writers always have these sets of pens and notebooks inside their bags . I have three fancy notebooks at present and they are all gifts from love ones
