-Can be used as an MP3 player-just upload your music.

-Uses one AAA battery, a good brand will last you a long period.

-Compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems.

-Have earphone and microphone inputs

-Records in WMA which is compatible with Windows (Will download to Mac but you will need a Windows media file player or VLC (Comes free online)

-A rather small memory of only 512MB means a lot of erasing of data (Though it is very simple.)

- When recording while holding the Olympus Digital Voice recorder in hand, there is a lot of noise generated by the plastic casing on movement

Star rating.

3/5. A good recorder but has some product design issues especially with regards to the last mentioned factor which makes it fall short ofProfessional Dictation Audio Recording

How long have you used the product?

I have used this product for over 2 years (to date of publication of this article July 2011)

Build quality and value for your money.

The Olympus Digital voice recorder is definitely worth your money. It is not quoted in the professional voice recorder price range so you get what you pay for. It is none the less a good recorder to a large extent.

Because of its user-friendly quality, it can be used on a day-to-day basis with out need to worry about the professional settings it offers.

Capture your thoughts, do interviews on the go. Record the birds chirping in the morning record a seminar, record a child’s laugh. Olympus’ recorder is the gadget.

Voice recorders are really useful for moments when you don't have a paper/pen to make a note of something (and can't be bothered to send an email to yourself or leave a message on your own voicemail!). This sounds like it's a good investment for exactly the things you've said - short, everyday notes-to-self and sound scapes.

I was thinking of getting a voice recorder. Now that you've mentioned it, I'll consider this one. Voting this Up and Useful.
