Filmmaking DIY
Movie equipment on the cheap
If you ever wanted to make a better video or film , but didn't have the money, and thought what can I do to achieve the effect I need?
Necessity is the mother of invention. So in my necessity to stabilize my pan and zoom shots without the aid of an expensive $200 or more cell phone camera slider I came up with a way to achieve the same effect as an expensive slider would do.
Things you'll need
1. Curtain rod (2 parts that fits together)
2. Bread or snack clip
3. Cell phone clip from flexible mount
Begin by taking the cell phone clip off the mount. It is attached by a ball joint. Be careful and not snap it off.
Take the bread clip and attach one end of the metal flap into the end of the cell phone clip and start to screw the plastic nut back onto the camera clip . Don't over tighten. Slide the bread clip over one of the parts of the curtain rod and attach the other rod . The bread clip mount will then slide freely up and down the rod. Attach the phone to the camera clip and hold the rod on the left end horizontally and grab the bread clips other metal flap with right fingers and slowly slide the phone to the right. While filming it is best to also swing the curtain rod in an arch while sliding to to the right. This gives a great pan effect. You can also keep the clip stationary while you swing the rod. You can also swing the rod up at a diagonal for some really great shots.
