Garmin Nuvi 295W GPS with WiFi and Geotagging 3 MP Camera
Even if you own a GPS already the Garmin Nuvi 295W is one that you will want. The 295W is WiFi enabled. It features a 3 megapixel digital camera and its orientation can be either portrait or landscape. The 295W is shaped more like a cell phone than a typical GPS device. It is thin, modern and very portable. It weighs a mere 4.8 ounces and sports a 3.5 inch touchscreen.
The WiFi connectivity is a fabulous feature. Hotspots can be found just about anywhere you go so checking your email including attachments, tracking the weather conditions and surfing the web updates you whenever you like. Email accounts from Hotmail, Gmail and AOL is supported. POP3 and IMAP accounts are also supported. Email attachments such as PDF, Jpeg and file extensions from Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint are supported.
Other features common to other GPS devices include voice directions including street and exit names, easy to understand and familiar icons and a preloaded City Navigator NT street map for US and Canada. Six million preloaded destination POIs (Points of Interest) guides you to food, shopping, lodging, entertainment, ATMs, gas stations and emergency services just to name a few. You will always know the speed limit even if the signs seem to be hidden. The Nuvi 295W makes you aware of changing speed limits as you travel.
You are not short changed on features such as a calculator, calendar, lists, Jpeg photo viewer, time zone clock, currency converter, weather forecasts, stop watch and Garmin Locate. Garmin Locate saves you current location when you remove the unit from the car. Returning to your car is easy because the Nuvi 295W remembers where you parked. You can download varies voices and vehicles to make your trip more interesting. There is also an MicroSD card slot for added memory.
Typing addresses into the Nuvi 295W is reduced by simply touching the address in your contact list (up to 5000), by touching the address of a POI or the address from a search result. You will automatically be routed to that address. As you take pictures with the integrated 3 megapixel digital camera the images are geotagged. You can route to them, send them to friends to route to or you can upload them to the web in order to locate them on a map.
There is little to dislike about the Garmin Nuvi 295W. I wish that it had the lane assist feature. I think that I would miss it but I may be willing to compromise.
