How to Copy & Paste Text in Facebook iPhone App [Jailbreak Tweak]

Updated on March 5, 2013

Copy & Paste Text in Facebook App on iPhone

If you are a social networking freak and a Facebook power-user, majority of the time, you would be accessing it from your Smartphone. And, at times when you like your friend's status or any other piece of information, you would tend to copy it and save it locally or re-share it on facebook.

Unfortunately, if you are using facebook iPhone app, it doesn't allow you to copy text from your newsfeed. You either have to open facebook web version in Safari browser or simply choose not to copy it at all.

By default, the facebook iPhone App allows you to copy only comments and not the news feed. This can be annoying at times!

In this post I am going to show you how to copy text from Facebook App on iPhone.

[Note] - For this method to work, you need to have a jailbroken iPhone as you would need to install a simple jailbreak tweak to allow copy/paste functionality in the Facebook iPhone app.

The jailbreak tweak is called "Enable Copy text in Facebook app"

So, let's get started!

Step #1. On your jailbroken iPhone, go to the Cydia App search tab and search for "Enable Copy text in Facebook app" [As soon as you start typing, Cydia would list it as the first result]. Tap on it to proceed with the jailbreak tweak installation.

Step #2. Install the tweak and once the installation is complete, tap on "Restart Springboard" - this will restart the springboard.

Step #3. Now, after the restart is done, simple open the Facebook app for iPhone and go to your newsfeed. Tap and hold on text on any newsfeed status update for 1 second and this will save the text in clipboard and you will get a 'Success Alert.'

P.S. - This tweak only works in the Facebook news feeds. I tried using it on Facebook fan pages and user profiles, but it doesn't seem to work there.

And that is how you copy text from your newsfeed in native facebook iPhone!

This Facebook Cydia tweak is hosted under ModMyi repo and is available for free. So, go ahead and give it a try.

Do let me know if this tweaks works well for you and also, if you face any issues while installing the tweak, do meet me in the comments below.
