Latest mobile phones | LG Optimus 2X and Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL

Updated on October 26, 2012

In our technology stuffed and overrun digital-like world latest mobile phones, developed at almost cosmic speed, can already boast of extremely exceptional performance, glossy and shiny screens, camera abilities that already excel the photo cameras and gaming features, which could only be dreamt of not so long ago. The state-of-the-art devices able to carry on GPS functions with computer hard drive capacity capabilities are never on the time – out line. I remember just a few years ago we had a new kind of alien Iphone mania invasion which still keeps going on, though on a more steady pace. After the appearance of this new touch screen gadget device, which brought Apple Company to the front lines immediately, almost all remaining brands switched their marketing and development campaigns to a new level with a quest being touch screen phones stuffed with Iphone like features. Well, what could be expected – everyone rivals for a perfection, which respectively brings more and more money. We are humans, after all – thriving for better life, comfortable style of living and more sophisticated toys in our hands.

Having said all the above let’s focus on some extra features of the latest products, attracting the eye of a common customer with design, price and functionality.

LG Latest mobile phones - LG optimus 2X

LG Optimus 2X

It is of the latest mobile phones with the high – end features like dual core processor and HDMI or High Definition Multimedia Interface support. As we know, the first dual core processors appeared in the computer technology. Their power is in application multitask processing which takes up less time because several tasks are allocated to both cores and executed simultaneously. This enables working with a larger number of programs and software at the same time without any PC crash.

Double core processor

The same thing here can be said about LG Optimus. Its double core processor, which is the first of its kind, is, indeed, a powerful solution for a needy user. The Tegra 2 processor enables application multitasking without almost any lagging and provides exceptional speed. Browsing the web, playing games, switching between applications is indeed faster, compared to the same single core processor speed models. Besides, the response time of a touch screen is almost instantaneous – thanks to the processor features again.

Full HD

Most smart latest mobile phones can reach up to 720p HD video playback, while this one tops at 1080p. What does that mean to us? It means full high definition playback mode, enabling to watch a high resolution videos. And you can view them not only in your smart phone. With this in mind, we come to the next cool feature…

HDMI support

Is has the DHMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) port, which can be used to output the 1080p HD video from the phone directly into the compliant TV, expanding content without any quality loss. By the way, the video can be viewed on TV without any cable – it just needs to have a DLNA support, which is available on LG Optimus 2X.

DLNA support

The ability to a wireless connection with any Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) enabled device makes it possible even to watch video without a cable or to download video from a DLNA work station. Besides you can also have a pretty neat gaming using your LG Smart as a console on a DLNA compliant HD Television.

I won’t touch upon neat and sleek design, 4 inch WVGA screen, and video call enabled cameras – two of them to be exact. One is in the front with 1.3 MP and the rear camera, which is more powerful with 8 MP. Here are the specs:

Samsung latest mobile phones - I9003 Galaxy SL

The phone is actually the remake of a Galaxy S model. The two models are almost the same, however, only from the first look. It appears, the latest model has more than meets the eye. I wouldn't want to touch upon all the specs (they are laid out below), and would rather speak about the main features.

Display

The Super Clear LSD display has some advantages and disadvantages against the AMOLED display type which is popular among the latest mobile phones. It really is shiny and bright. Besides, it offers better and improved sharpness, compared with its predecessor Galaxy S. However, the direct sunlight is one issue where AMOLED displays are gaining ground. Besides the contrast suffers due to increased sharpness and in this case contrast is somewhat better in AMOLED displays.
The size of the screen is 4 inches – standard. Sensitivity is of the highest quality, so the users less addicted to AMOLED displays won’t feel that they are losing something here. The screen is protected with a special Gorilla glass; therefore there shouldn’t be any cause to worry of seriously damaging it.
Huge minus is the body made up from plastic. You will be having fingerprints all over it and constant cleaning of a device is tiresome.

Power consumption

As I mentioned the new LSD display is brighter and therefore gives it up for high energy efficiency. Samsung solved this battery issue by a longer lasting battery with a capacity of 1650 mAh.

Video player features

The phone can offer reasonable quality video playback. If you are keen on watching the movies on your phone – you may find it’s one of the best options available. Wide choice of codec support as well as DIVX and XVID video makes it possible to watch most videos. The video player couldn’t be simpler – the on screen controls are play, pause, skip and progress bar. It disappears when not used. The optimal playback and recording quality is 720p – and it is achieved without much lagging. You can find a TV – Out (through SD) as well as DLNA support to view videos through digital devices without any cable.

Photo camera

It may seem strange to someone that Samsung doesn’t strive for the best photo camera features as it is, let’s say, with Nokia N8, but let’s be honest – 5 MP camera is enough to offer the high quality pictures with nice contrast. It doesn’t even have a flash or even a shutter key. Still it offers geotagging, face and smile detection, various shooting modes. There is also blink detection, image stabilization, auto contrast – everything that its predecessor has.

Web browsing

As it comes with the Android 2.2 Froyo OS it also uses the Android browser. Most would agree that the Froyo may be the fastest OS so far. Hence, web browsing is fast and comfortable. As you open a web browser there is not too much of user interface, and the whole 4 inch display area is left for a web page. Control functions are available through multi touch and double tap.
I should mention the full flash support, which is a pretty powerful issue in internet – you can easily watch the YouTube videos and play flash games.
