What I Did

So I got to Barcelona about tea time on Sunday 24th February , and on arriving at Barcelona Airport the first thing I did was get the link bus to Terminal 1 to register for the MWC, this took a little longer than I expected but by about six O'Clock I was in a taxi on my way to the apartment I was sharing with Mark Peters for the week. We met up about seven, dumped our stuff and headed out for a drink at a bar near our apartment and meeting up later on with Narive of UK Mobile Review at the Pla├ža Reial just off the Ramblas later on for a last glass of wine before turning in ready for an early start to get to the Nokia press event at the Fira the following morning.

Due to a minor hiccup getting on the right tube line we were a little late for the Nokia event, well, when I say late, most folk were getting there for seven thirty, it was just after eight when we arrived, and luckily my limited pass got me in, in fact with either the pass or help from friends I actually managed access to much more of the Congress than I initially expected to :) The anticipation in the press area was pretty intense, despite leaks of the products to be released, and certainly, as a massive Nokia I was extremely excited as Stephen Elop took the stage to start the event, and even though I wasn't very central or close to the stage I had my Nokia 808 with me and managed to get some fairly good shots of the event.

Stuff Round The Booth

After the press announcement of the Nokia 105 and 301 along with the new Lumia 520 and 720 everyone poured out to the rest of the booth to view the stands where the phones were available to play with, along with Nokia staff to demonstrate Music, Here Services (Maps, Navigation and Transit) along with Photography and lenses, there were also a number of accessories available to view and try.

Another part of the booth that was gathering quite a crowd was the the 3D Printing section where Nokia were demonstrating their partnership with MakerBot to print cases for the Nokia Lumia 820 which is something that will be expanded to other models in the future and many of the invited bloggers received custom made phone covers whilst at the event.

Nokia Booth Tour Stolen From Savannara

So after spending a couple of hours around the Booth and having a tour round some of the displays we had time to go exploring, but will have to leave that for later, had a bit of a nightmare with media upload today so this ain't quite what I intended (sorry for the Video theft by the way, but kinda helped me catch up) will try post a few more pieces before it's all complete history.

Thanks for reading

Stephen Quin
