Prancing Michael Cera Meme - Not Jumping, Not Leo, Just As Funny
Prancing Cera - The Origins
Prancing Cera is one of the newest photoshop internet memes based on a photograph of actor Michael Cera in mid-air jumping (looks like he's Prancing) from one platform to another on a dock in Haugesund, Norway.
Origin
While in Norway, promoting the 2010 action comedy film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, the photograph was taken by film director Edgar Wright. He uploaded the picture to his Flickr account on August 22, 2010, and it took off from there.
The Take Off
On a site called Tumblr, a single topic blog F*ck Yeah Prancing Cera was created and the blog was quickly swimming with fan-made images. Most instances of the meme involve song lyrics with the word ‘Dance’ changed to ‘Prance’, mostly all popular references to film and television. Many have also combined the Prancing Cera meme with other popular memes such as Pedobear, Jessi Slaughter, Strutting Leo (also a new meme), Antoine Dodson, Haters Gonna Hate, Sad Keanu and others. The Tumblr blog has obtained over 9000 followers since the first 48 hours of launch.
The day after launch, the image was posted to Buzzfeed, who provided the photoshop exploitable and encouraged users to create their own and submit them. The article had well over 28,000 views within the next 24 hours.
Why Make A Hub About It?
Well, honestly, I just wanted to see what a photo-based hub would come out like. I wanted to see what kind of traffic I could get, if slideshow views make a difference, and many other things.
Of course, I have that bit of text up above, but otherwise, we'll see how this goes.
