The Unending Xiaomi Blockbuster – Xiaomi Mi4i

Updated on December 6, 2015

Launched during the second quarter of the year 2o15, the Xiaomi Mi4i is another jewel in the crown of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Combined with powerful specifications and an affordable price tag, the phone has easily sailed through its introductory period, and the handset not only continues to be hugely successful, but the Xiaomi Mi4i price in India makes it an excellent deal. Notably, Xiaomi is one of the first smartphone companies to accumulate most sales online since its launch in the country, in comparison to other brands already established in the national market.

Design and Looks

Let us begin by saying that while there is some difference between this phone and the Mi4, the Mi4i still manages to look and feel great. The handset, instead, features a matte polycarbonate design, and the power and volume buttons can be felt on the right side. The front panel has room for a camera and a notification light, as well as three capacitive buttons below the display.

The device derives power from a 2nd gen octa-core Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor, metered at 1.7 GHz. It also includes an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit, and comes bundled with 2GB of RAM. Frankly, the specifications suggest classifying the phone as a mid-range one, but the experience indicates otherwise. Graphically heavy games and multitasking are a breeze.

Armed with a 3120mAh battery (non-removable), the Xiaomi Mi4i does its best to accommodate all types of cell phone users. Whether you’re a gaming fanatic or someone who prefers to use their device for mainstream tasks, the battery ensures you have enough juice left in your device to easily run it for a day, with just a single full-charge instance.

In contrast to major differences between Mi4i and its counterpart, the Mi4, here’s a similarity – the display. This phone features the same display as of the latter, 1080x1920 pixels, with an impressive pixel density of 441ppi. Also, with a screen dimension of 5-inches, the IPS LCD makes viewing content on the phone an absolute pleasure.

Storage Capacity

This is probably the the phone's biggest drawback. With a capacity of only 16GB, the device does not allow users much space to deal with. Additionally, the phone does not support Micro SD expansion slots. The handset also features a few pre-installed apps, and while they may all not be needed essentially, they do consume the much-coveted memory here.

Considering the price, the camera performs decently. A 13MP camera has been placed at the rear end, and it features dual LED flash. The front panel camera is equipped with a 5MP lens, helping clearer video conferencing calls and better selfies.

The handset features a host of connectivity features, and these include Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n/ac) and Wi-Fi direct. However, it does lack NFC support.

Running on 5.0.2, the Mi4i features quite a number of design elements. That being said, these are also necessary for the overall excellent user experience, thanks to MIUI.
