Updated on November 10, 2012

What does it all mean?

So, we have all been there. You're on Facebook, or you recieve a text from a friend, only to realize that you have no clue what they are talking about. You may get the gist of what there trying to communicate to you, but there may be a random word or phrase that you are not familiar with. Then when we ask, "What does that mean?", you get the look. You know the look I'm talking about, almost as if to say "How lame are you?". Well, this has been happening more frequently with todays technological conversations (don't feel too bad!!).So many people have found themselves in this position. I confess that I've had to do Google searches to find out meanings. There has to be a "first one" in this process, so it would seem the second, third, and fourth people in the link may have some "catching on" to do too!

Hey Paul! I'm so glad this was helpful! And what an interesting fact about the 555 used in Thailand! Thank you so much for your support!

This is a very useful hub for an older person like mw who is teaching and working with youngsters in Thailand. I have seen a lot of the lingo used by my EFL students. Originally, I thought LOL meant lots of laughs or lots of luck. Thai students often use "555" in place of LOL, because the translation of the letter 5 in English is "ha" in Thai. Voted up as interesting, sharing, and pinning.

Sheez, I have so much to learn! Thanks for the education; now I have at least a chance of not embarrassing myself. :)
