Purchase the IRobot Roomba for Christmas - Vacuum Cleaners at Big Lots

Updated on October 3, 2011

Buy the Irobot roomba vacuum cleaner

It has always been so time consuming doing housework and working with 3 children. I saw the IRobot for sale at Biglots for 199.00. I had been eyeing it for months before I finally bought it.

I love my robot vacuum cleaner. All I have to do is press the button and it vacuums the floor all on its own. It vacuums wood, carpet, tile, vinyl, and linoleum. It goes under and around furniture and along walls. When it is finished it will return back to its home base, or when the battery is low. The side brushes sweep along edges of walls and corners. It cleans based on the cleaning mode i select.

Roombas three cleaning modes:

Clean mode (all types):

Roomba automatically calculates the room size and adjusts the cleaning time

Spot Mode:

The Roomba will spiral around in a 3 feet diameter cleaning intensivly on one area and then spiral back to where it started.

Sceduled Cleaning Mode:

At a certain time, the roomba will be sceduled to clean, it will leave its base area, clean, and then return back to its base. It will occasionally flash when its ready for its next scheduled cleaning time.

My favorite part on the roomba is when the Roomba detects dirt, the blueDirt Detect light lights up and cleans more intensivly in that area. It takes about 25 minutes to clean a room and passes over the same area to make sure the floor is clean. When the Roomba gets stuck on a cord it also automatically shuts off and the red troubleshooting light starts flashing.

Issues:

The only issues I have had with the vacuum cleaner i have has is it seems to need a lot of cleaning. There isn't alot of room too hold the dirt so it fills up fast and constantly needs emptying. But with three kids there is always alot of dirt being vacuumed up. The brushes also need to be cleaned out alot. But overall i would say it is worth buying. It saves alot of time not haveing to do all the vacuuming by hand. It also gets alot of attention at my house. People find it cool for some reason when they see it running around my house.
