The Jawhorse | A Do It Yourselfer's Christmas Dream

Updated on November 21, 2009

Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse

No visions of Sugarplums dance in the heads of the hardcore DIY. No Virginia, Santa has done it up proud for that special family member that loves to take on the projects around the house. You should note here that I do not say that it’s the man around as the legion of Do It Yourself Women has grown a thousand fold in the last 10 years. The hunt for better gadgets is no longer only a male hunting party.

It’s not often a new tool comes along that can be classified as a ‘Game Changer’. The Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse is such a tool. The amazing clamping capability and the all metal construction make it a serious addition to the home gamer or professional. The few additional accessories offered add significant capabilities and should be given consideration for purchase from the beginning.

This apparatus has some very female friendly features. It clamps with a ratchet system that is foot operated so you can keep both hands engaged with the project, the additional leverage means you can use the strength of your leg muscles to clamp an object instead of having to tighten it with your hands, this is very female friendly.

It's ability to clamp on to most anything up to and including car engines, is due to the RK9000's ability to produce up to 2200 lbs of clamping force through  the unique ratchet design. It can be easily floor mounted through the Bolt holes in the feet, or left in a roll around configuration. The Three point stance gives it the the benefit of the most stable design geometry can produce; even on uneven terrain. The RK 9000 can also be folded up and stowed away in a 29 X 14 X 13 inch footprint.

Now having said all that, Guys do not make the fatal mistake and try to give this to your huny for Christmas. Well, you might be able to get away with it if you deliver it in the trunk of her new Mercedes. Otherwise, take one for the team and put this on your Santa list and man up, and be happy for the great new tool you’re gonna get to share with your sweetie.
