#2 Pioneer SP-BS22-LR

Andrew Jones’s SP-BS22-LR is a stunning achievement for the price. I am truly amazed to see him design such a good speaker at low price instead of designing some luxury pieces. The sound is balanced and neutral without any defects. Its very involving too if you listen carefully. “High quality home audio doesn’t have to break the bank” says Andrew Jones by introducing Pioneer SP-BS22-LR. It can handle 80watts channel home theater system. The covered stiffer cabinet design reduces standby sound waves inside the cabinet which in turn reduces distortion and lack in clarity. The beautiful and elegant grills are one hell of perfection. The speaker utilizes a 6 component high quality crossover to break audio signal to low, high and mid range frequencies. The tweeter and woofer work like charm. It delivers wide frequency range and excellent sound quality. Every audiophile should listen to this at least once.

Overall Rating: 9.2/10

Some reviews:

"Pros
1. Great Build Quality, love the wood grain and removable grills
2. Surprising Bass
3. Smooth highs
4. Nice, high quality binding posts in the back.
5. How often do you see a "real" crossover network in speakers this price?

Cons
1. Make sure you measure, these speakers are almost 9 inches deep. This depth really helps with the sound, but make sure you have room for them.
2. Imagine the sound these would put out with a 5 or 6.5 inch woofer!
3. The woofers look laughably small with the grills off. Do yourself a favor and keep the grills on!"

"these are incredible speakers - especially considering the price. They are great for an entry level audiophile. If you are smart and wait for a deal, you can easily find a pair of these speakers for under $100 that will blow speakers costing 4 times these out of the water."
