The LG 530G is a prepaid cell phone from Tracfone that comes with a large screen, full QWERTY keyboard, and a nice modern feel.

For those who might be unfamiliar with Tracfone or prepaid cell phones, check out my Review of Tracfone Wireless Company for more information.

In this review of the LG 530G we will look at the specs and features, then at some dislikes and likes about the prepaid phone, and finally an overall rating of how this compares to other Tracfone prepaid cell phones.

Now, lets look at some of the Specs and features for the LG 530G:

Specs and Features - LG 530G

This phone comes with plenty of the expected features for a prepaid cell phone. Listed below is a highlight of some of the more convenient features the LG 530G comes with.

  • Triple Minutes for Life
  • Mobile Web
  • Full QWERTY Keyboard
  • 1.3 MP Camera
  • MP3 Player and Headphone jack
  • 6.3 days standby battery life
  • Many other common cell phone features including 1000 entry phone book, voicemail, texting, picture messaging, wall charger, alarm clock, and hands free speaker

These features make the LG 530G a versatile phone when compared with other Tracfone mobile devices.

The phone itself has a nice size and weight to it, a little smaller than an iPhone or iPod.

The buttons have a good crisp click when pushed, and everything about this phone seems like good quality construction.

Now, lets look at some specific likes and dislikes for the LG 530G

Likes for the LG 530G

Here are some of the best features the LG530G comes with, specifically Triple Minutes for Life, QWERTY Keyboard, and MP3 player.

The Triple Minutes for Life that this phone comes standard with is the best Tracfone offers and means that for every minute added to this phone, you will get 3 total. So if you add a 60 minute refill card, you will get a total of 180 minutes added to your phone.

This makes the LG 530G a great option for those who may use their cell phone for more calling and texting rather than just a back up.

And using a Tracfone Promo Code will give you 20-200 free bonus minutes when you enter it with a new minutes card.

The QWERTY keyboard on the LG530G is great for texting quickly and it is very easy to get accustomed to. While most people have become familiar with texting using a flip phone, a QWERTY style keyboard, which is set up in the same layout as a computer keyboard, is fast and reliable for people of all ages and cell phone experience levels.

Finally, the included MP3 player is a great bonus for loading, and listening to your music. While loading mp3's onto the LG 530G is not the easiest, the player is simple and easy to use. To put music on the LG 530G, you will need to get a MicroSD card, which brings us to some of the Dislikes:

Dislikes about the LG 530G

As mentioned above, the LG 530G does not come with a MicroSD card, so you will have to buy one separately, put music on it from your computer, and then put it into the MicroSD space on the phone.

It would have been nice if Tracfone would include a MicroSD card, and make the transfer of music and other files to the phone easier.

Another dislike about the LG 530G is the Mobile Web feature. It is possible to check email, and browse Facebook from this phone but it will burn through your prepaid minutes very quickly, and is very poor compared to smartphones.

In general, the LG 530G is a solid prepaid phone, but is hard to compare it with the fast advancing technology of top smartphones.

Overall Rating of the LG 530G

The LG 530G comes with great features which add value and functionality to this prepaid phone. But it is important to recognize it is a prepaid phone, so expecting a lot out of it might leave you disappointed.

The phone makes for a fine backup phone, or a primary phone for moderate users. The QWERTY keyboard adds good value, and makes texting fast.

Overall the LG 530G with Tracfone prepaid service is an incredible value for the money. For money conscious buyers, this is a good buy. But for those who like texting, and calling friends and family often, you may end up going through the prepaid minutes very quickly.
