Turn Your iPad into a Lead Capture Tool in Your Business

Updated on May 4, 2013

One of the most costly aspect of managing a business is gaining new customers, in fact the biggest expense for many businesses is advertising and marketing.

A business might work out its ad spend efficiency by calculating their ad spend per new customer in order to work out the effectiveness of an advertising campaign. Comparing their ad spend in getting a new customer over the approximate customer value in terms of how much revenue each customer is worth. You can work out your ROI.

A quick and easy way to improve your ROI is having remarketing campaigns in place, such as by collecting the contact information from anyone who comes into your store. You can then add them to your mailing list and then advertise to them over and over again.

I found that using an ipad kiosk is a very effective way to do this. You simply mount your iPad onto a podium like apparatus. Which locks the iPad in place to prevent theft, then you open up you lead capture app or website and customers are free to enter their information from then on.

Most iPad kiosks have the home button blocked out so ordinary users are not able to exit the app by clicking the home button. this will prevent children and other mischievous users from playing around with the iPad. So it can be left for people to just enter their information.

It will also help a lot of attach a sign above the kiosk in order to incentive customers to enter their information. In marketing speak this is called a call to action. A call to action is more effective if you give customers a reason to enter their information, it could be by throwing up a 10% off special offer, or an extra promotional deal.

You can buy iPad kiosks for cheap, there are a few used ones that get sold on eBay. So if your marketing budget doesn't stretch too far you don't have to worry because it shouldn't cost you too much. You may even decide to use your personal iPad for business use at first in order to dip your toes into the pond. Then when you find out whether or not it has been effective you can then go on and buy a dedicated iPad for your use.

If you want to stretch you budget even further you may want to hire an iPad kiosk for a weekend or so you can hire on this page. This is a great way to actually test drive several different kiosks to see how effective they are. Kiosks come in various different shapes and styles, so it's not apparent at first as to which one is most suitable, so renting a few different ones will give you a better idea.

It’s also a good way to just get a kiosk for a seasonal uptick, or a trade show or an event. If you find it beneficial it may be worth just buying a stand outright so you can keep reusing it over and over again. For best results get a stand with the appropriate security features and has inbuilt charging facility as well.
