What It's Like To Have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro?

Updated on January 25, 2017

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Review

Good Day! For my very first Hub I will tell you my review or experience about my phone which is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. Like I said, this will be my first Hub so don't expect too much from me hahahaha but still I did my best in doing this Article and I hope, really hope you like it. Thank you.

DESIGN

For me seeing this phone for the first time I already fell in love with it. I have the gold one and it is flawless base on my preference. The majority of its body is metal except for the upper and lower back which is plastic.

At first I thought it will going to be slippery in my hands, but guess what? it's not. I never dropped it naked, In fact the first time to the last time (in counting) I dropped it, is with the case on (luckily). The slight curve back design is very useful because you can have a very good and comfortable grip of the phone in your hands. The power button and the volume rocker are on the right side. The power button is below the volume controls which I think is good since it's a big phone so it will be better if this button will be much easy to reach and press.

We have the fingerprint scanner at the back below the 16 MP camera. On the top side, we have the 3.5 headphone jack, IR blaster; use in controlling some of your electronics and mic while on the bottom side there is the charging port. In the left side, we have the sim card and expandable storage tray. Lastly, we have the speaker at the back which has a very good sound quality except when you play videos or musics with it face-up, laying the back of the phone; since the speaker is being covered, It results for mediocre sounds. But overall, it's a lovely design and I will rate it 9/10.

DISPLAY

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro is a 5.5 smartphone, which has a IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen Full HD (1080p) display with 403 ppi. To be honest, I loved the screen of this phone even really zooming some pictures and text from the web is not a problem. Really having a big phones has a lot of advantage towards reading articles, feeds, tweets, watching videos and a lot more. I can assure you that this phone can provide you a quality display you want.

The only downside for me of the display is when used in really bright environment or outdoors, even in 100% brightness you can't really see that much, but to be honest I don't care about this too much. That's why it is not a major problem because I'm more of a house person (very introvert hahahaha), I spend most of the time indoors than outside but if you are the type of person who is outgoing, who loves to go in sunny environment like beaches then you better look for some alternatives to this phone.

This phone doesn't have Corning Gorilla Glass so you should really put some money using a tempered glass for your phone's protection, but Xiaomi said it has the same level of protection like Gorilla Glass have. How Nice? Until now I never drop my phone face down without a tempered glass, so I don't know. I will rate the display 8/10.

CAMERA

Now for its camera, It has a 16 MP rear camera and 5 MP front facing camera. The 16 MP rear camera takes good to very good quality of pictures but don't expect too much concerning its price, but it can take the job done most especially with better light environment condition. The pictures of the box was taken from the rear camera of this phone and you will clearly see that it takes high resolution images just like some upper range models and even flagships. The Rear Camera have also tons of image effects like Mosaic, Mirror, Black and White, Vivid, Matte, Icy and many more that a lot of people will find very useful.

The 5 MP front facing camera I would say for a budget phone it takes a descent to good quality of pictures so if you are a selfie lord or selfie addicts that enjoy taking a lot of pictures of themselves then this phone is not the best phone out there which can definitely satisfy your need. But if you are like me that don't use their camera 100-infinity times a day then this phone will suit you. But what I like about the front-facing camera itself is the age and gender identifier that even my friends really enjoy or maybe disapointed about because sometimes it displays age which are older than what there actual age is. One time my girl best friend use my camera and it displays male as her gender hehehe.

For its disadvantage I would say that if you are taking pictures in low light environment, the quality of pictures is really fair to bad, you can see clearly that it is pixelated so thumbs down to that. Like I said the camera of this phone is not the best for professional photographers that want to shot pictures perfectly; there are other models that you can look forward to aside from this that are better than the camera of Redmi Note 3 Pro but if you are a person who don't care too much about the camera, then this phone will suit you. For the camera, I will rate it 7/10.

PERFORMANCE

Having Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650 with 6 cores (hexacore) I would say that for a budget phone this phone have impressive specifications and it run games smoothly or flawless. I'm not that hardcore gamer and I don't play heavy graphics games so I don't know if it will be the same playing intensive games, but in my case playing only low to mid graphics games I have no problem with it. I have already installed a lot of apps in my device but I never experience drastic lag but just some minimal lags and all of them are tolerable .

This phone provides me impressive and long hours of service thanks for its 4050 mAh battery that last for days if you will use it moderately and apply its power saving mode which I think really helps me to manage my battery to stay more longer than usual. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro is running MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow after being updated is so far one of the best User Interface that I have encounter because it offers a lot of functionality for every users so that everyone would be very pleased owning one.

Because I was really impress about how this phone help me a lot for everything I do, I would say that the performance exceeds the price of this phone so it's a win-win situation. For the performance 9/10.

Additional Features

Lastly, This phone offers a lot of additional features that you will find very useful even some of them is features of other known brands:

  1. Own Theme Store - Xiaomi phones have their own theme store, where there are tons of beautiful themes to choose from and did I told you that it is absolutely free. Well, YEAH!!
  2. Security - This pre-installed app is about permission, so you can control your app for which will you allow or which you will not. Not only that this is where you can find also their very own Cleaner; so you can delete some junk or unnecessary files on your phone, but also the Virus Scanner; to detect whether your phone have virus, and Battery; to control your battery Profile and so on.
  3. Second Space- From the word itself "second space". This feature provides another space so by having it you have your primary and the secondary phone profile so if want to hide something because it's confidential or something, or maybe for business purposes then second space will be useful for you.
  4. Lite Mode - This phone mode can be really handy if you don't want your phone to be too much accessible for the persons who use it. For example for kids, If you want them to just use some certain app in your phone then this will help you.
  5. Quick Ball - It has almost the same functionality of the assistive touch of the iPhone, use for some shortcuts.
  6. Find My Device - Very familiar, eh? Yup, this phone also have this feature which iPhone also have.
  7. Calculator - When you think this is just an ordinary calculator well it's not. It can turn into a scientific calculator, have converter for currency, length, area, volume, temperature and speed. Not only that, you can also compute your mortgage. How cool is that?
  8. Mi Remote- This phone has an IR Blaster, so this app can be used in controlling some devices in your home. Well, that's interesting.
  9. One-handed mode - This is useful if you want to click easily around your screen because it can small out the display into 4.5, 4.0 and 3.5 inches so no worries if you have small hands; this functionality can solve that problem.
  10. Many more - This phone offers a lot and I can assure it. I think you can find out yourself, research about it if you want. Hehehehe

Verdict

To sum it all up if you are the person who is really tight on his or her budget, want to have an overall impressive phone that surpass its price and don't care too much about the camera then this phone is for you. Before I buy this phone I was thinking of buying other brand flagship phone, but end up to this but I don't regret it primarily because the performance impress me a lot along with the features this phone offer.

But if you really have that money to buy some flagship phones primarily for better performance, display, camera and quality, why not right? Everyone of us have the right to have their choices and preferences. There are a lot of phones out there that can beat this phone just like some other brands in terms of the said factors. It's up to you who will decide but be wise .

Overall, my rate for this phone would be 9/10.
