What are the Basics of HTML?
What is HTML?
HTML is HyperTextMarkupLanguage or the language used to create what we see as being a web page. HTML defines how the page will appear to the eye. It defines the layout or structure of what will show.
There are tons of tags used to format the way your web page will look. HTML is just the most basic.
There are hundreds of other tags used to format and layout the information in a Web page. Tags are also used to specify hypertext links. These allow Web developers to direct users to other Web pages with only a click of the mouse on either an image or word(s). For a more complete list of tags, check out some of the URLs below.
Basic Codes:
<html> - This is an opening tag for every page on the internet
<body> - This is the tag that opens a page
<h1> <h2> & <h3> - This tag shows the importance of the text
<p> - This starts a paragraph
<a href=""> - This links text
<img src=""> - This allows for images
<b> - This allows text to be bold
<i> - This allows text to be in italics
<u> - This allows text to be underlined
<li> - This allows for a bulleted or numbered list
<br> - This allows for line breaks break (w/o it the text keeps running off the page)
All these tags must be closed as well. Usually by the same way it was opened.
Example: <html> </html>, <body> </body>, <a href=""> </a>, <b> </b>
(The last tag on the list don't require a closed tag <br>)
Example of a coded page: (note not all the html will be entered here! Below I have placed this entire code so you can see how it will show up)
