Websites Are Not Opening Any Browsers : What to Do if None of the Websites Are Opening to Any Browser?

Updated on June 30, 2011

Some computers are affected by several types of viruses. Thise viruses are so strong that it blocks all the website addresses. So, whenever you put the web addresses in your browser address bar and press Enter key of your keyboard, you will notice that the website is not possible to browse. But from the other PC, it is possible to browse. In this way, your computer is totally unable to open any website to your browser. This page contains information related to the reasons of website not opening in your browser and the solution for that.

Why it's not possible to open any website to any browser?

There are several types of trojans which are responsible for that. trojan.chost and trojan.vundo are the main reason behind this. If your PC is affected by one of these trojans, your browser is unable to open any types of websites.

There are several types of antivirus software, which could solve this issue. Always keep the antivirus software's virus-definitions update. Use this antivirus to clean these viruses. But even the antivirus software cleaned all the viruses, the problem is not yet solved i.e. you are even now unable to open all types of website to your browser.

The reason for this problem is that the trojan modifies windows hosts file and makes certain changes or makes certain websites point to a local host. So, those websites will not be loaded until the host file is corrected.

I think you understand the reasons for not opening the websites to your browser. Now, move forward to the solution of this problem.

How to fix the problem or the trojan?

Step 1:

Install and update your antivirus software and scan your computer fully i.e. run a full system scan of your computer.

Step 2:

Go to the following location of your computer:

Step 3:

Find the hosts file form the etc directory and open it with notepad.

Step 4:

Delete all the contents from the hosts file and type the following line to the hosts file.       localhost

Step 5:

After modifying the hosts file, save hosts file modification and restart your computer.

That's all to remove the trojans and to solve the problem of not to opening any website into your browser.

After doing all the mentioned steps, I think the problem will be solved. Now, open your web browser and type your desired website address into the address bar and hit Enter key. What are you seeing? I think, you are able to open the website. If you don't yet solve the problem, please tell that into the comment section. I will try to give you the solution for that.

Tried your steps above. Won't allow me to save the changes. Cannot create the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file.

Make sure that the path and file name are correct.
